Anti Empire Forces Strike Back
http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Front_Page/EJ18Aa01.html

Representatives of a new coalition of prominent foreign policy scholars and analysts whose political views range from right to center-left announced on Thursday that they hope to spearhead opposition to the imperial policies pursued by the administration of US President George W Bush.

Leaders of the "Coalition for a Realistic Foreign Policy" charged that the administration is moving "in a dangerous direction toward empire", an idea that they said has never been embraced by the US public.

The spokespersons said that they will hold a series of policy forums and conferences around the country, publish papers and articles, and represent an anti-imperial viewpoint on television and radio, media that, since September 11, 2001, have been largely dominated by pro-imperial or pro-war voices.

"We are a diverse group of scholars and analysts from across the political spectrum who believe that the move toward empire must be halted immediately," says the coalition's charter statement, signed by 44 foreign policy specialists.

1. Sounds great!
California must get after Ken Lay and his connections immediately. Or cut the tongue out of the new governor's head.

"moving ... toward"?
They must have been living in caves, or are more concerned about directing the opposition than getting things right.

7. Cynicism has its place
Edited on Sun Oct-19-03 12:39 PM by Angel_O_Peace
and certainly those of us who have been more acutely aware of what has been happening within and beyond our borders would tend to be all the more cynical. However, this group bears watching. By the list of people already committed to this coalition, there will be more people in positions advantageous to hopefully creating a driving force that will serve as a wake-up call and center for truth in stopping the runaway train known as The Bush Administration. The statement regarding "moving...toward" is actually accurate in that we, as a nation, have not been totally subjected to a fascist dictatorship, and our constitution and rights are still intact. I am glad to see this organization seeking a presence by taking an active and clear stance in an effort to start turning US Foreign Policy around; As a nation, the US has become a greater target under the goals of the PNAC and the Bush junta.

There aren't many shopping days left before the next presidential election, and BushCo has been doing everything possible and more to facilitate the Bush doctrines of absolute power and domination not only here at home, but across the world. I hope the Coalition for a Realistic Foreign Policy has real impact on exposing the BFEE Foreign Policies, and influencing those politicians who, up until now, have always sided with the current White House global manipulations.
