DUBAI (Reuters) - Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden has vowed to carry out more suicide attacks within the United States and against U.S. targets outside America to punish Washington for its "oppression", the Arabic satellite television Al Jazeera says.

"We, God willing, will continue to fight you and will continue martyrdom (suicide) operations inside and outside the United States until you abandon your oppression and foolish acts," said the text of an audio tape purportedly by bin Laden made available to Reuters by Al Jazeera.

MSNBC coming up with translations soon. Vows attacks in and out of US borders; US withdrawal from Iraq.; salutes Iraqi resistance groups; MSNBC translator called it "State of Jihad Address" :eyes:; says Al-qaeda in Iraq.

Sounds to me like they plan on riding the "terrorism, fear, and nationalism" theme right into four more years. I think Bin Laden died of kidney failure, or at Tora Bora.

It would be in his best interest to prove he is alive. He could refer in the tape to say, the muslim conference going on, something in the news, and use video.

The fact that he hasn't means he is worm food. He would love to go on tv and gloat that they haven't got him, if they actually hadn't got him. I think this is a BFEE operation. Any time the chimp gets in trouble, a vague Bin Laden or Hussein sighting comes out. It's the boogey man for Bush. Ignore it.

16. I'm afraid I have to agree with Faux

There can be no doubt Osama is (was) a clever man. However, we know he has serious kidney problems. I can't imagine that's good for you to hole up in the Tora Bora mountains for prolonged periods of time. He was last seen in Saudi Arabia getting some kind of medical treatment.

However, what strikes me as more telling are the reactions of people here at DU. Notice the utter disillusionment in their government, as we are being warned of dire things to come. Nobody believes it.

And you can also be sure that the rest of the "sheeple" watching this on TV, are having the same reaction. They squeeze their beer can a little harder, and wait patiently for the show to come back on.

It's always been my theory: you can manipulate people, but only up to a point. Even the densest person knows when they are being taken.

Also, notice that BEFORE the 9/11 attacks, we never saw an "Osama preview" of bad things to come. AFTER the attacks, however, he has shown up on a regular basis. That's a sign that we're being manipulated.

Aljazeera has broadcast a message from Al-Qaida figurehead Usama bin Ladin advising the United States to leave Iraq, and urging Iraqis to wage holy war on the US "crusaders".

In the tape, played on Saturday, the man blamed by the US for organising the September 11, 2001 attacks gave separate messages to listeners in Iraq and in the US.

To the US, he issued a stark warning that his followers would carry out further actions both inside and outside the United States.

"We, God willing, will continue to fight you and will continue martyrdom operations inside and outside the United States until you abandon your oppression and foolish acts," he said.

To Iraqis, he encouraged resistance against the US-led forces that have ousted former leader Saddam Hussein and taken control of the war-ravaged country.
