Abizaid Says Success in Iraq, Afghanistan Requires Allied Effort
Defense Department Report

The new commander of the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) says achieving success in Afghanistan and Iraq will require not only military muscle but also the economic, political, intelligence and diplomatic efforts of the United States and its friends and allies throughout the region and the world.

Army General John Abizaid made his observation as he assumed command
on July 7 from retiring Army General Tommy Franks, who led the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. In his brief remarks at CENTCOM headquarters in Tampa, Florida, the new commander also talked about the war against terrorism, which he described as a war without borders. ---

1. gee, maybe you should have thought about that before, huh?
Lets see here, we have alienated virtually all our allies who have anything remotely resembeling a military, we have made enemies of everyone else, we were utter and complete shitheads when they raised objections that have since been vindicated and NOW we are asking for their help.

Hmm, yeah... that could work.

I can really see the 'old european" leaders rolling around on the floor when these guys come calling.

3. STILL with this "United States and friends" shit!
This is where the Dems can unite to hang them all - the world knows, and even 90% of 'murka knows, that we need to hurry up and get NATO and the UN to take over this rapidly sinking ship. But * and company will insist to the bitter end (of at least several hundred more soldiers and marines) that this remain a US-headed "quackmire." Like fucking raccoons with their hands in the trap.
