Female Marines oppose restrictions on their service
The thought of women serving in combat - on the front lines, no less - is unsettling to some. Earlier this year, congressional representatives sought to repeal some of the jobs made available to women only within the last few years. The debate flared again following an attack in Iraq late last month on a convoy of female troops. A 21-year-old Camp Lejeune Marine, Lance Cpl. Holly A. Charette, was killed.

It's a distasteful debate to many of the female Marines serving today.

Women, they say, are trained just as thoroughly as men are. Women, they say, understand the risks and knew them when they decided to sign up.

"I went on a convoy ... and was walking around with the squadron, carrying my M-16," Griego said. "I did exactly the same things they did. When we encountered females, I searched them to make sure they didn't have anything and kept them moving."

1. Bush and his Bushbots have no concern
for troops, male or female. They are there for global corporate profits. Bushco does have priorities.

3. Yep. It's called "justice" ...
... and it's the only rightful role of a government. Without it, that government is morally and ethically illegitimate.

4. Yet it's the Bush White House that's putting women in combat
Wasn't the conventional wisdom all these years that the "libruls" wanted to use the military for twisted sociological experiments? Yet all these fundamentalist wackos, the neoconservative think tanks and manly military types that put Bush in the White House will have to watch as their president puts women in combat. Somehow, I sense that the "liberals" will again be blamed for women being in combat even though Republicans control the White House, Congress and the Pentagon.

5. Unable to access the article,
but, by not allowing women access to combat situations, career female personnel are being denied opportunities for advancement. It is a well known fact that fast track military career advancement occurs through combat duty.

If a woman requests a 'combat' post, she should be allowed to serve in that capacity.
