Gov. Warner leads Allen (R-VA) in poll on 2006 matchup
Virginia governor Mark Warner is polling ahead of Sen. George Allen, 47-42%, in a hypothetical 2006 senatorial race, according to the latest Mason-Dixon poll:

8. His plans are not set
He has not decided whether to run for President or the Senate yet. While he is very popular here in the Old Dominion, he is virtually unknown outside of the state and hasn't been the target of a huge smear campaign yet. I have my fingers crossed, but it's too early to tell if he can kill the hydra.

and it shows that he has a chance of carrying his state in a general election.

Hey, if we run a moderate in '08, we may as well atleast TRY to win. So I'll take Warner over Hillary.

George Allen needs to go ASAP. I just hope that Warner will run for Senate - he certainly hasn't committed himself yet.
