Hicks lawyer gets liberty award
http://www.news.com.au/story/0,10117,16042076-1702,00.html

THE American military lawyer of Australian terror suspect David Hicks has been awarded a humanitarian gong by a US civil liberties group.
Major Michael Mori, appointed by the US to represent Hicks at a US military commission hearing, has been awarded a Medal of Liberty by the American Civil Liberties Union.

Hicks, of Adelaide, has been detained by the US at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, since January 2002, following his capture among Taliban forces in Afghanistan a month earlier.

Major Mori's award was hailed by Hicks' Adelaide-based civilian lawyer David McLeod.

"Major Mori's description of the proposed military commission as a kangaroo court has been vindicated by a distinguished group of his fellow countrymen," Mr McLeod said today.

Buried news story, which sheds light on the awesome work this poor guy is doing.

Not to use a broad brush to paint but ;

a.) Is this guys military career over?
b.) Will be called a "traitor" and "providing comfort to the enemy" for the rest of his life by morans?
c.) Will be promoted.
d.) a. & b.

1. this guy is awesome
the first time I heard him I could not believe he was a military lawyer, and a Marine as well. This guy was telling the truth and he continues to do so.

Here is a link to a pretty extensive list of Mori interviews extending back to when he was appointed Hick's lawyer.

He may be a name to watch for in the future. Idealistic young officer standing up to an unjust legal process that is being sanctioned by a govt that allows torture.

2. An honourable and brave man
When the US is back to normal and the thugs are where they should be Major Mori should be recognised for his moral courage.
