DESPERATE DRUG RUSH
http://www.nypost.com/news/nationalnews/7895.htm

October 12, 2003 -- A desperate, drug-addicted Rush Limbaugh begged his dealer to score him a final, explosive dope cocktail just two weeks before he attempted to detox last year, a new report says.
The call was one of dozens the conservative radio host made to his housekeeper, Wilma Cline, 42, who doubled as his supplier.

"Just two weeks . . . I kind of want to go out with a bang, if you get my drift," Limbaugh wrote in an e-mail to Cline, according to the latest edition of the National Enquirer.

Limbaugh's former housekeeper claimed she helped the radio host buy 30,000 hydrocodone, Lorcet and OxyContin pills from black-market suppliers between 1998 and 2002.

OK. Rush calls a 13 year old girl dog faced, admits drug addiction, and is beig investigated for illegal drug use. And he's a great American as designated by Bush? Huh? Does Bush live in a different country than I do?

8. not "illegal drug" use... illegally obtained drugs, yes.
he bought them illegally. obtained them through illegal means, violating the law endlessly, but they were "sanctioned" drugs, legal narcotics, if you have a prescription, which he probably did at one time.

his illegal activity was supporting a corrupt pharmacy that fed narcotics into an underground pipeline. he probably paid $10 a pill or more for those drugs. at the quantity level he purchased, and based on what was very likely a high number of illegal purchases, he probably crossed over the line into felony activity.

the rush supporters are trying to whitewash this thing by saying he was an innocent victim of a botched operation and addiction to drugs that were legally obtained. in reality, he was a junkie searching for a high, trying to blot out his conscience, the voices that reminded him that he was spreading lies and smearing filth all over the face of our great country. rush was, and still is, one of our greatest threats to national security. why would a successful man like him, gloriously self-righteous, with millions of followers who would drink laced koolaid if he asked them to, run his own life into a ditch in such a stupid manner?

he wanted to get caught. he wants out. that's my theory. he wants out because there are elements that have been controlling what he says on the air for a long time, and he's beyond the point of being able to live with himself for selling out to them.

9. There may be some to that
what is real is that his suporters are having a serious
problem dealing with it.

The way I see it, at a basic human level I feel sorry for him,
and empathize as drug addiction of any type is not fun.

But I also see this as a possible turning point, he never lied
to them, but he did... so slowly the doubts will creep in... what
else did Rush lie about?

Oh and yes the court should throw the book at him, but I am willing to take bets that they do not.

And yes, I am willing to wait until the Justice System finds him
guilty, which is far more than he ever did.

11. this is important! perceived lies... he lied when he said he always told
his listeners the truth... but why would he be a drug addict for 5 or more years and not disclose it? why would the investigation begin, and he'd not tell the truth for several days as he "got to the bottom of it" (was there a cyst there, rush?) and finally confess?

sorry, a confessor has to live with the fact that before the confession, they were living a lie.

24. You're right , drugs obtained illegally are by defination illegal drugs
Hospital pharmacies stock cocaine. Using their reasoning then when someone uses cocaine outside the hospital setting they are using a legal drug illegally? Why is that better than using an illegal drug illegally? There is no functional difference between the drug Rush is addicted to and opiates available on the street which were never routed illegally to a pharmacy, none at all with the possible exception that Rush could be more certain that what he was buying was really what it was supposed to be.

They make a distinction when there is no difference. When maids get licenses to prescribe drugs Rush had a prescription drug problem. Since maids don’t have that power yet Rush was a garden-variety addict.

44. And the purpose of doctors prescribing drugs
Is to ascertain that the medication is proper for its use and to maintain the proper (as close as possible) dosage.

If they find the medication is not doing the job after each evaluation then the doctor is suppose to prescribe a different dosage or medication or take them off.

Right!!????????

If it were a Democrat, we'd all be saying "how could he have been so stupid to buy his drugs on the street? Why didn't he try real rehab? Why didn't he find a quack doctor to give them to him legally? Man, he is in a heap of trouble."

The reaction of the right to this shows how far out of touch they are about the flaws in their leaders.

43. Need to know if that period between 1998 to 2002
is 4 or 5 years. Generally, it would be 4 years.
If so then it would be 20.5 pills per day average.

Otherwise, it would be almost 16.5 pills per day.

Now, the average could and probably is higher in either case because there could be cases where he didn't have access to the drugs. Either because he ran out or he forgot them when traveling.

They come in 20, 40, 80 mg sizes. Which is 4, 8, or 16 percocets worth of oxycodone in one 12-hour time release tablet, with none of the nasty tylenol mixed in. They're yummy... But a friggin BITCH to quit. Take it from someone who knows (unfortunately) - all prescribed, OF COURSE!!!

23. Maybe the right is turning in on itself
The NYP is a Murdoch rightist rag. It's surprising to see this coming from them.

Murdoch's "Sun" in the UK finally turned on the Tories in the 90s and backed Blair for PM after being Thatcher's bitch throughout her term, plus supporting Major for a few years.

I believe Murdoch, although right-wing, may be ultimately more inerested in the bottom line, and if Bush's numbers keep on dropping, Murdoch may do what he did in the UK and swing to the other side.

It's public knowledge how much money this clown makes. And in the last 44 days of his junkie period, he allegedly purchased over 4000 pills.

27. Just a thought
Rush is certainly out of the woods. If he is taking as much drugs as everyone assumes, he could die during detox, or once he gets out of rehab, he could revery back to drugs in even larger quantities, risking his life.

Since he as been called a "national treasure" about drugs, will the Repubicans push (on his demise) that a stamp be made in his honor. Will we get to vote if we want the "fat Rush" stamp or the "not so fat Rush" stamp? If so, would the vote be fixed and decided by the Supreme Court again?

49. NOT out of the woods?
Is that what you meant? Cause you're damn sure right he ain't. Actually, though (I won't say 'unfortunately', but only cause I don't wish that on anyone, but if there WAS someone...) it's quite rare to die from opiate detox. Barbituates and Alcohol are about the only drugs that cause death upon withdrawal with any regularity. I'm doubly sure that if he's in a detox facility, they won't let him die from the WD's. Hell, all you gotta do is give him a morphine shot and he'd straighten right up ...

But, you're right, the recidivism rate for opiate abusers is extremely high. And the disease tends to come back with a vengeance everytime you 'go back out' as we say in 'the program'. I can vouch for this phenomenon.

Nothing would please me more than pig-boy losing EVERYTHING, and winding up in jail one day: Broke, divorced, kicking HARD with NO meds to ease the pain, charged with a felony like breaking and entering to get his drug money. Wouldn't THAT be heart-warming!?! Instead of the Betty Ford Country Club, or the Hazelden Recreational Facility, let him FEEL the INTENSE fear and pain of 'cold-turkey' that many addicts go through EVERYDAY, thanks to our society's draconian drug policies that he thinks SO highly of.

Is anybody else LOVING this whole thing as much as I am?

Ah, an excuse to peruse my favorite quotes from the Newsweek article again. LIMBO was a disappointment to his daddy, that's the root of the problem. Prolly he turned into one of those rich dudes who get whipped. He also did pot, porn, and welfare in his time.

******QUOTE*****

http://www.msnbc.com/news/979355.asp?0cv=CB20

.... virtually every newspaper dredged up this 1995 quote from Rush: “Too many whites are getting away with drug use. The answer is to ... find the ones who are getting away with it, convict them, and send them up the river.” The penalty for illegally buying large quantities of prescription painkillers in Florida can be five years in jail, and contrary to some published reports, prosecutors do go after users as well as pushers—especially if they want to make an example of a celebrity. ....

(His most recent contract, signed in 2001 for eight years, was for $285 million.) But his personal life left something to be desired. Despite his fervent moralizing, he smoked a little pot and watched a little porn (as he has publicly admitted). His first two marriages failed. His second wife, Michelle, told Vanity Fair that Limbaugh’s father never quite approved of his career path, and that Rush would be depressed and deflated every time he got off the phone with his dad. ....

His self-absorption made dating difficult. Two women who dated Limbaugh told conservative activist (and Limbaugh friend) Paul Weyrich that they couldn’t seem to get his attention. “They both said, ‘I’ll never go on a date with him again’,” Weyrich told NEWSWEEK. “They did not have a good time. He talked about himself and didn’t seem interested in them at all.” ....

In 1994, Limbaugh married his current spouse, Marta Fitzgerald, a former aerobics instructor who is nine years younger (they met through a computer bulletin-board service). Shortly after they were married, a $125-a-plate audience became uneasy when Limbaugh called his wife onstage and then seemed to forget that she was there. As he ranted at Democrats, she seemed to cower and edge toward the shadows. ....

"He was shameless," the housekeeper told the paper.

41. Right, corarose!
My husband was prescribed oxycontin for a couple of years after falling from the top of a high school gym. From his period of time of this drug, I learned about the dosing level of oxycontin.

Rush refered to his his "blue babies". This would be oxycontin in the 80 milligram strength - either the strongest or next strongest made.

If Rush was taking 8 of the 80 milligram oxycontin a day, he is lucky to be alive. Each pill is 12 hour time-released dose and 2 pills a day is the usual dosage.

8 x 80 = 640 milligrams

for a serious OC addict. It's roughly equivalent to a gram a day heroin habit - only WAY more expensive!

It's gonna be some 'trainspotting' action for El Rushbo. I just wish I could be a fly on the wall (with no ability to smell the vileness that will be emanating from his lard-ass for the next three-four weeks) watching his sorry ass "kick". It would be fun to verbally abuse him, like he has done unto others for the past 15 years, during that time, whilst he is living on the verge of breaking into tears at any moment. Yeah, I'd like to make Rush cry in the middle of his detox. Does that make me a bad person?

As he ranted at Democrats, she seemed to cower and edge toward the shadows. ....

47. Oh, your calculation could be way off...
Seeing as how one Oxycontin 80mg = 16 Percocet tablets...

Sixteen Vics a day ain't squat. But 16 x OC80's? Now THAT is a monkey on your back!

Hope shitbird has fun in DETOX. There is no experience you could possibly have that is nastier over a 7 day period, aside from maybe catching yourself on fire...

51. I doubt he'll be awake for it
According to the Enquirer, his two previous detox sessions were of the kind where they put you under general anesthesia so you don't feel it.

52. Yeah that might take care of the *physical* addiction
Obviously, there's a lot more to it for Rush, since he's been thru this twice already. So much for the freepers bawling "O Poor Innocent Man, addicted by his doctors!"

I wonder why he took the name "Rush." Or maybe I don't wonder.

heh

54. Author rips Limbaugh a Monday new one
(snip) RUSH LIMBAUGH: Detox where? "Clintonesque"?. Self-Destructive? Hypocritical?
by Gregory Orlando Monday October 13, 2003 at 08:20 AM mail:

Did he do it because "You'll get a "Rush" (surge of pleasurable sensation) out of this!," or for pain? Where is he doing his detox? Who is the mysterious Dr. Weisman? Was the "staightshooter" "Clintonesque" in denial? Is he telling the truth now? Did the drugs come BEFORE the spinal problem, as he claimed, or cause it? New information beyond the Enquirer story.

Is he self-destructive, destroying the hearing his career depends on? Why was he rejoicing in the pain and death of drug abusers? New information provides partial answers.

On the same day the National Enquirer published a followup article on Rush Limbaugh's drug addiction, he announced he is going in for detoxification, the third time. Whether the Enquirer articles or simply "enough time to figure out what to lie about," which he used to say was "Clintonesque," pushed him into treatment is hard to say. Previously he had reportedly gone to the ARI in New York for overnight detox. This time he says he is going into rehabilitation for 30 days (luxurious Betty Ford Clinic in Rancho Mirage, California?) - and this the guy that said of the ordinary user: "Send them up." Always destructive, even self-destructive (he destroyed his own hearing), Limbaugh has attempted to destroy others for their vices; but he now blames "severe pain in my lower back and also in my neck now due to two herniated discs" and tells us, "I'll be back." It's just a good thing he isn't judging himself as he has judged others - or he would be going up the river himself.

LET'S GET ONE THING STRAIGHT: LIMBAUGH IS A DIFFERENT KIND OF ADDICT. HE HAS NO EMPATHY FOR OTHER ADDICTS nor for most anyone else. Most addicts are capable of empathy, like most everyone else. Rush Limbaugh is not going to become a man of good will because of any medical or psychological treatment. That probably would require a spiritual change, and I will make no judgement about that. 55. Considering the sheer number of pills,
Where in this case does possession with intent to distribute come in, if at all? Would someone with some legal knowledge please clue me in?
