(Another "Mysterious Suicide" in Florida. How exact does a woman shoot herself in the chest to commit suicide?)

Fla. Official Who Killed Self Stole Money

Thursday July 7, 2005 8:46 PM

By RON WORD

Associated Press Writer

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - A ``highly trusted'' county official stole more than $1 million from the government before she killed herself while under investigation this spring, officials said Thursday. Jessica Mixon, 56, admitted to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement on April 22 that she took about $200,000 a year as financial manager for the Nassau County court clerk's office. One week later, she shot herself in the chest in a motel room.

She said she had taken $875,000 since October 1999, but an audit over a longer period showed the losses totaled $1,068,000, county Clerk of Court John Crawford said Thursday.

When Mixon confessed, she told investigators none of the money was left and mentioned she enjoyed taking gambling trips. FDLE agent Dominick Pape said he didn't believe she was a gambling addict, but investigators were aware of at least one trip to Las Vegas.

Mixon was supposed to deposit the money, which came from such things as traffic fines and court fees, into a special bank account, Crawford said. ``She held the keys to the kingdom by herself,'' he said. ``She was a highly trusted individual.'' She had worked for the county since 1981, officials said.

1. No business should completely trust any one person completely!
Most of the time, people do reamin honest, but sometimes the temptation becomes just too much! That's why you always have check and balances!!!

Shame on Nassau County!

8. I don't think this is quit that simple, this fits a larger pattern...
...of Under investigated "motel room Suicides" related to the BFEE:
<http://demopedia.democraticunderground.com/index.php/Bush_Family_Evil_Empire>

The lack of details in this story regarding the suicide and this quote from the article raise a red flag with me:

"...After her suicide, authorities decided to continue the investigation to confirm that no one else was involved. The county is considering civil action against her estate to try to recover the money, authorities said..."

I really don't think it's up to "authorities" to "decided" to "continue the investigation." I would hope that it would be "standard operating procedure" to investigate further when police find a Dead Woman in a Motel room with a bullet in her chest.

This stinks of a some sort of Mob hit. All levels of government in Florida are Corrupt.

11. yes...it IS that simple.
1. load gun

2. press gun barrel slightly to the left side of the sternum

3. pull trigger

4. fall in a lifeless heap to the floor

and doing it in a motel room isn't all that strange- especially for a woman, who wouldn't want to burden loved ones with the mess or the horror of finding them.

18. O.K. since you seem to think you have all answers, tell me this...
Edited on Thu Jul-07-05 06:25 PM by Up2Late
1) What type of Gun was it?

2) What type of Ammo was used?

3) Were their any "powder burns" found on the clothing or skin?

4) How much Kick back did this Gun produce?

5) Is it possible to hold this Gun, aimed at your own chest steady enough to fatally shoot yourself in the "chest?"

6) Were the Police called to the scene? What did their report say?

7) Did a Coroner declare a cause of death.

8) Why is this quote missing in about half of the articles by the same author on the same day about the same subject: "...Agents were working to file charges against Mixon when she killed herself and there were no indications she was suicidal, Pape said...."
<http://www.gainesville.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050707/APN/507070810>

And while we are at it,

9) Why did the AP post this identical story by this "AP Writer RON WORD" to 32 U.S. and a few U.K. newspapers at the exact same time?

Here's just a few, if you want to try this your self, Google "RON WORD" then switch to News (Google News), then at the bottom, click the link that asks if you want to see the "Similar or duplicates" at the bottom.

The deeper you look at this Story, the more phony it looks.

Also, here's a link to a article I posted here yesterday by respected Investigative reporter Wayne Madsen <http://www.waynemadsenreport.com/> (it's about 1/2 way down the page) called:
"DISINFO ALERT -- WHY THE AP CANNOT BE TRUSTED TO ACCURATELY REPORT THE NEWS"
<http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=1909256&mesg_id=1909256>

The AP is in the Bush Family's back pocket, I no longer trust them.

Edited on Thu Jul-07-05 07:41 PM by LiberallyInclined
i never made any such claim-
you mistakenly seem to think that suicide is an extremely difficult act-
it isn't.

as to your points 1-7, at this point, you'd probably have to consult a police report for that info.

as to point 8- MANY people who commit suicide give NO Indications...were there any prior indications that she had stolen $875,000 and was probably headed in shame to prison for quite a while??

point 9) "Why did the AP post this identical story by this "AP Writer RON WORD" to 32 U.S. and a few U.K. newspapers at the exact same time?"

c'mon- are you really that out of touch?
AP didn't "post this identical story" to 32+ papers- AP is a wire service- the individual paprers are the ones responsible for their content...

:eyes:...some people...sheesh.

9. I am a bookkeeper with a company..and totally control the books
so I refused to deposit funds when the owner moved to Florida and demanded he hire a seperate company to do the deposits. I refuse to open bank mail/lawyer mail/accountant mail. He would not do anything to create checks and balances..but I insist they are in place! I swear I would never steal a penny, but if he is not looking over my shoulder, I demanded other checks and balances. To protect myself if something went wrong as much as protect myself from the lure of easy money. I learned when I was in grade school and played marbles, that greed is a very potent lure... the more marbles I won, the more I wanted..seems easy come demands more easy 'funds' (be it marbles or money)

I can't sign them. Only the president can.

I want him to know I *can't* steal. I sleep at night knowing he sleeps at night knowing I don't have access to company money. I'm not at all tempted, but it's also a point of having no access.

And we receive no cash, not being in retail.

...women don't normally shoot themselves. They MORE normally commit suicide by overdose. Not sayin' anything but a motel room is more not to be interupted while life fails...for a gunshot your car, the woods, or any quiet place where your body can lay still and not reach a trauma unit within 15 minutes will do....

28. No . . .
you are presuming that anyone HEARD the gunshot, or, having heard the noise, KNEW that it was in fact a gunshot, and not a car backfiring, a book falling, a movie, or any number of other things. The answer would depend on how occupied the hotel was, whether there was anyone nearby, whether there were external noise sources that would mask the sound, the caliber of the firearm used, etc., etc.

It seems to me that you are trying to force the known facts to fit into your preconceived notions as to corruption and Florida government.

Sometimes a kiss is just a kiss, man.

31. NO, what I'm saying is that his Article HAS NO Facts!
The only way I knew about her not being found for 2 days, was by doing some research and finding an article from last month that had one or two bits of info. Something that most readers will not do.

What I've came to realize, after posting and then re-reading this turd of an article, is that it is very deceptively written to give the impression of understanding what happened to this woman, but it actually contains very few facts and evidence to back up what is suggested by the author.

It's a very one sided, "the Government will tell you what to believe" article, that leads the reader to make a bunch of assumptions, without really giving any evidence or facts. Unfortunately, Americans have become so accustom to this type of Crap Reporting, that very few even realize that they're being lead around by the nose.

Plus, I've lived and worked in the Orlando, Florida Metro area, (where they have a few Hotels and Motels) and I've stay at a few cheap Hotels and Privately run Motels, so I can tell you from personal experience that, in a small Motel, even if someone didn't hear the gunshot, a single Woman, dead in one of the rooms, would be noticed in less than 2 days, unless some sort of arrangement was made or it was a very unusual Motel.

And I also have a problem with "Coincidence Theorists" and so-called Liberals, who are too eager to believe everything that comes from RW controlled News Wires (like the AP) and the Republican/Jeb Bush controlled, Florida Government.

why does the suicide of a women who embezzeled a million or so- and was caught, confessed, and faces public humiliation and a long prison stretch seem to strike you as odd?...honestly?

and who do you wildly imagine would have what do you suppose to gain by her death?

She was the one with the keys to the cookie jar, and she took the money- and by the way, $1million over 5 years is not the kind of penny-ante stuff that jeb and the boys over at the BFEE would even concern themselves with...
her world was crashing down around her, and she decided that she didn't want to/couldn't take what was coming her way.

is there anyplace that Jessica could have offed herself(and in what way?) that would have satisfied you?

Women more often attempt suicide by overdosing, but more often commit suicide with guns.
http://www.ucdmc.ucdavis.edu/pulse/scripts/99_00/handgun_research.html
In other words, overdosing is much less successful method of suicide than shooting oneself in women.
