Investigation looking at whether radio host shopped for doctors

WEST PALM BEACH, Florida (CNN) -- A Florida judge turned over some of Rush Limbaugh's medical records Wednesday to prosecutors investigating whether the nationally syndicated radio host went doctor-shopping to illegally obtain prescription drugs.

"The review of those records now goes forward in earnest, despite the many efforts to derail the investigation over the past 19 months," Assistant State Attorney Jim Martz said Wednesday.

The ruling by Palm Beach County Judge Thomas Barkdull gave prosecutors access to some of those records, which investigators seized in late 2003.

Limbaugh and his lawyers challenged the seizure in court, but the state Supreme Court ruled against him in April.

Well, Christians are supposed to hate the sin, but love the sinner.

I guess personally as a Christian I believe that Rush should be encouraged to be strong and take his consequences for wrong doing as a pennance for lying to everyone and making a mockery of Christians everywhere. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God, BUT he was peddling drugs and causing others to sin as well and that kind of behavior results in legal problems.

What seems to be missing to me is any repentence on Rush's part, but I don't listen to him much. Makes me sick to my stomach.

I've listened to his show occasionally (of course, I had to hold my nose), and his voice has an edge of panic whenever he discusses the investigation against him. "The prosecutors are investigating me purely for political reasons," or "I tell you people, if they can do this against me, they can do the very same to each and every one of you. Don't let this happen!"

He's mentioned the names of the prosecutors several times, probably as a hint for his Dittoheads to harrass them.

Prosecutors took the step after learning that Mr. Limbaugh received painkillers from four doctors in six months at a Palm Beach pharmacy near his home. They have said the records will prove that Mr. Limbaugh engaged in "doctor shopping," or illegally deceiving doctors to receive overlapping prescriptions.
