Letter: Frist Schiavo diagnosis being reviewed in Tennessee
The Tennessee Department of Health has responded to complaints into Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist's (R-TN) 'diagnosis' of Florida's Terri Schiavo by videotape, RAW STORY has learned.

Their letter, written by Tennessee Department of Health Director of Investigations for Health Related Boards Denise Moran, said that the complaint had been received and "was in the process of being reviewed."

"Once this review has been completed you will be contacted by letter informing you of the recommended course to be taken," Moran adds.

"Thank you for reporting this to us since our mandate is to protect the health, safety and welfare of the people of Tennessee," she continues.

in person were dead wrong! What a narcissist.

Tom DeLay was right when he said Terri would be a "godsend"--he just got it wrong as to whom! She could sink Jeb AND Frist as '08 nominees!

4. I wouldn't get my hopes up
They have to respond to any inquiry as a matter of course. Nothing will come of it. They'll sit on it and then in a month or so, they'll quietly issue a statement that they found no grounds to sanction the cat killer, so it will all be swept under the rug and quickly forgotten. Tennessee business as usual.

25. Wouldn't make them do anything.
The AMA acts more like a union, not a regulator. All you have to do is pay your dues. That's all we've done for my husband (he likes to keep an eye on them--knows they're evil).

11. I suspect the possible penalty would be a suspension of his
license to practice medicine. Does he even practice any more? Did he keep his license renewed after going into politics?

I think this makes for good taling points, but not much more than that.

Kinda like Clintons license to practice law. He hasn't practiced law for many years, so other than talking points, it was no big deal!

26. He still practices.
I know, who would go to that quack, right? He still sees patients, though, according to an article I read in AMNews awhile back. :eyes: Oh, they'll do an article on someone like him but not a word on Dr. Dean or anything . . .

He won't lose his license. The most they'd do would put him on probation. He would have to have been high, drunk, selling morphine on the streets to support his crack addiction, and screaming obscenities at the nurses during surgery to lose his license. Okay, maybe not all that, but it takes a lot to lose a license in medicine.

15. Dr. QUACK should have his medical license revoked.
Magical medical movies, complete with goobers & popcorn is no way to make a diagnosis.

Medical patients should NOT be used for propaganda purposes- and Dr QUACK is guilty as the day is long in that respect.

28. Two reasons for revoking his license:
Edited on Thu Jun-30-05 08:34 PM by BrightKnight
1) If Dr. Frist believes his diagnosis he should have his license revoked for incompetence. No doctor that actually went to medical school could make that diagnosis in good faith. Doctors are trained to examine all of the possibilities and he barely examined any of them. This could only be described as quackery.

2) If Dr. Frist deliberately provides false diagnosis he should have his license revoked. It does not matter if he is treating patients, working for an insurance company, or advising a public policy body. In all cases he would be abusing his license.

17. Well, when the conservawhackos couldn't nail Clinton
They made sure to get his bar license to practice before the Supreme Court revoked in a purely symbolic gesture of spite. Challenging Frist's license to practice medicine in Tennessee would seem to be a fitting application of the "Goose and Gander" Principle of Sauce Distribution.

19. There are two main problems with Frist's behavior...
1) he apparently offered opinion far outside his area of expertise. Medical professionals are charged to practice only within their area of competency (in addition to the fact that he made this determination by watching a video).

2) he entered into a questionable dual role by indirectly using his status as a physician (even though he didn't claim to be doing so) for clearly political purposes.

Also, he is a complete putz...

20. I complained to the Tennesse board
about Frist making a diagnosis from a one hour review of a redacted and clipped video tape made by the parents of Terri.

I received the same letter.

He as a physician, did harm, with his diagnosis which has been proven to be wrong from the autopsy reports. He did harm to the parents by giving them false hope, and he did harm to Michael Schiavo.

He did harm period. Schiavo was NOT his patient, yet he undertook to play politics using his MD license.

I complained and I will see to it that , if asked, I will supply all the information they need to revoke his physician license in that state.

any inquiry into Frist's conduct and interference.
