The plot continues to thicken. This is going to the floor now and it's a total slam dunk.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - With President Bush (news - web sites)'s consent, Congress on Wednesday advanced legislation to impose sanctions on Syria to last until the White House declares it has stopped sponsoring terrorist groups and halted programs for weapons of mass destruction.

After the White House lifted objections to the bill, the House International Relations Committee passed a measure to ban U.S. trade with Syria in items that could be used in weapons programs as well as other trade and diplomatic sanctions.

The Bush administration blamed Syria for bringing about the threat of congressional sanctions by ignoring U.S. requests to crack down on Palestinian and Lebanese guerrilla groups.

The full House of Representatives is to take up the measure next week. It has about 280 co-sponsors, well over the majority needed for passage. A similar Senate bill has 76 co-sponsors out of 100 senators.

The White House's move to lift objectio*ns comes amid Syria's rising tensions with Israel, which launched an air strike deep into Syria on Sunday after a suicide bombing in Haifa by a radical Palestinian group.

3. You think Americans will fall for it yet again?
If so, watch those poll numbers rise and Iraq become a thing of the past. Of course, they would really need to have their war in 2004 if they want the effects to linger.

4. SERIOUSLY, WHAT A BUNCH OF DIPSHITS
WHAT A BUNCH OF DIPSHITS...THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT LIFE WOULD BE UNDER SANCTIONS....THEM AND THEIR MACHOSISTIC MENTALITIES...ALL THEY ARE DOING IS PRETENDING TO BE TOUGH WHEN THEY ARE REALLY HURTING PEOPLE.

I hate this...I hope Kucinich comes out big time against him. If he does, I'm switching.

6. Lemme get this right: Israel illegally attacks Syria; the US sanctions
Syria? Syria or Hezbolla have never attacked anyone outside of the ME territories in dispute. Israel has unproked, attacked Iraq in 1983, and Syria two days ago, bombed the USS Liberty, killing over 30 Americans, stolen nuclear material from the US, sold weapons and nuclear weapons to S. Africa aganist international law, continues to illegally occupy Palestinian territory, continues to build illegal settlements, continues to defy UN resolutions, has and continues to develop nuclear WMDs, has adopted a terrorist policy of assassinating anyone it deems an enemy inside sovereign states, defies US policies, receives more foreign aid than all the other African and ME countries combined, and continuously endangers our national security with its spies and weapons runners to sell our secrets and weapons to the rest of the world, including our enemies. And all we can do is sanction whatever country Israel orders us to. We no longer have a democray. America has become a puppet state of Israel and Americans are too stupid to understand what is happening to them.

8. Huh?
"diplomatic sanctions" what is that? Sounds dangerously close to the sort of thing that can only lead to war...

11. I want to see the list of those supporting this, for it will show who
Edited on Wed Oct-08-03 10:05 PM by Flying_Pig
is in Israel's and PNAC's pocket. I can already guess which Dems will support it. Don't they understand, that by giving support to a measure like this, they are supporting PNAC and the Bush/Sharon cabal?
Don't they understand they are supporting more war, more fascism, and more terror?

I will use the list of those who are supporting this action, as a roster of Dems, and Republicans, that need to driven from office. Those who would support this bill, are not doing this for the good of our nation, but instead, are doing the bidding of a foreign power (Israel), in violation of our Constitution. AIPAC and JINSA are pushing for this bill too, and are allied with PNAC and Bush, as they have been forthe last three years. It's time for this shit to stop. These people are betraying our nation, and any hope for peace in the world.

On edit: LOOK AT THE LIST!! (link posted on #5). Look at the Dems on this list (like Pelosi!), and then look at the right-wing scumbag Republicans these people are sleeping with. GODDAMN IT! I've about reached my limit with the Democratic party. If these fuckers are going to sleep with the enemy, and support Bush, PNAC, and world wars, then I've got no use for the bastards! If these bastards want to support Israel like this, then they should make their own children go fight their goddamn wars!! ARGHHHH!
:grr: :grr: :grr:
