Venezuelan military confirms plot to assassinate President Hugo Chavez
Venezuelan military confirms plot to assassinate President Hugo Chavez

http://www.vheadline.com/readnews.asp?id=38238

Prensa Latina is reporting that Venezuelan officers have confirmed the existence of a plot to assassinate President Hugo Chavez ... that's why the site of the parade for the anniversary of the Battle of Carabobo on June 24 has been changed.

Defense Minister, General-in-Chief Jorge Luis Garcia Carneiro and Army Commander, Division General Raul Baduel told media that the evidence recommended not to expose Chavez to unnecessary danger.

This time, the annual parade will not be staged at the traditional site of the decisive battle for national independence, but at the military compound of Fuerte Tiuna in Caracas, probably with the presence of the Head of State. Div. Gral. Baduel stressed that, so far, President Chavez has underlined his desire to preside over the parade.

He told mass media the event on Army's Day will have the participation of the Army's Air Command and a representation of land units.

20. This old thread contained
a reasonable amount of information on the National Endowment for Democracy - you may wish to peruse if there is time.

27. Mark Plattner is on CPAN right now (8:15 am PDT) talking about
the wonderful work of the NED and how it impelled other agencies to promote democracy around the world, including the U.N.

"Promoting Democracy and Human Rights" hosted by the Hudson Institute.

He's ed of "Journal of Democracy". hmmm

29. LOL, that is some funny stuff
see, for example:

What has the NED done since its inception in 1983? According to a policy analyst at the Cato Institute - someone who should theoretically be friendly to Weber and the NED, it:

"...has a history of corruption and financial mismanagement, is superfluous at best and often destructive. Through the endowment, the American taxpayer has paid for special-interest groups to harass the duly elected governments of friendly countries, interfere in foreign elections, and foster the corruption of democratic movements."

I guess I am learning from Rove or something...

Maybe if bushco started publicizing all the threats that are being made against bush**, (and I am sure there are many), he could garner some sympathy and improve his ratings!

6. I hope the movement away from American domination of Latin America
will gain so much steam finally even stupid people like Bush will understand it's time to leave them the hell alone, and let them go about their lives.

I hope his karma finally catches up with Bush and Chavez lives to be a very healthy, accident and assasination free old, extremely old neat guy. He's a fine man. Fine leader. Fine patriot.

13. Don't have much free time currently, but I'm buying the book for later.
Found there's a new documentary film with the same name, as well:
Chávez, Venezuela and the new Latin America”
ANSWER Film Series

This groundbreaking new documentary by Aleida Guervara (Che Guevara’s daughter), “Chávez, Venezuela and the New Latin America,” explores Venezuela’s explosive revolutionary terrain post-April 2002—when Hugo Chávez survived a coup attempt.

Featuring interviews with Hugo Chávez, President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, and Jorge García Carneiro, newly appointed head of the Venezuelan Armed Forces, along with others who are involved in the country’s many social programs. This film affords a rare opportunity to glimpse through the blockade of information imposed by the United States into a country rich with hope, dreams and... oil. 2004, 55min. Spanish with English subtitles.

15. I'd sure like to see a petition created to forbid Bush to murder Chavez
It would be so good to be able to send it directly to Bush informing him Americans are aware it's in his plans to murder Chavez and we want to say NOW that we condemn it in the strongest terms.

The people of Latina America are UP TO HERE with our Replicant administrations. Hell, they haven't forgotten Nixon, forgiven Reagan, and detest the Bu$h name.

I'll pm you tomorrow evening, as the day will be too busy.

23. It'd be great to let him know we're on to him.
It would make it awkward for him if he knows a ton of Americans are watching him like hawks concerning Chavez. (Or maybe the Bush people have sucked up so much power they couldn't care less, as they believe they are unstoppable.)

If you know how to do this, it'd be terrific.

Bush should go, and Chavez should stay. One is needed the other never was.

25. Try this URL... Also, let's be careful with the wording of the petition.
Edited on Mon Jun-20-05 08:35 AM by calipendence
To start a petition, perhaps go here... A lot of other folks do. To get a lot of emails going out to the right people to sign it though, you might want to get ahold of moveon.org or one of the other organizations with big mailing lists.

http://www.petitionsonline.com/

One thing that the petition should be careful to note is that it isn't just "Bush" that should be prohibited from assasinating Chavez. That won't mean anything if Negroponte is given vague instructions to "stop Chavez" and he goes off on his own black ops operation to take Chavez out. It should be any American government institution, or American organization under direction from the American government or some careful legal wording like that, so that we don't let these f'ers off the hook if they try some obfuscation of ownership setup like that in terms of who's responsible for making the decision to off him.

24. Hugo Chavez is democratically elected
The Bush administration is always trumpeting freedom and democracy. Yet it avoids admitting that Mr. Chavez has won a number of free and fair elections in Venezuela.
