Nearly 200 die in Indian summer
NEW DELHI: Nearly 200 people have died of sunstroke and dehydration in India as high temperatures sweep many parts of the country, government officials said on Sunday.

Orissa was worst affected, with officials there confirming at least 75 deaths in the last six weeks. Unofficial reports put the toll at more than 300.

Temperatures soared above 50 degrees celsius in Talcher in the state's Angul district at the weekend and reached above 40 degrees celsius in most other areas.

Andhra Pradesh was also reeling under a heatwave. Local government officials said more than 50 people had died in the state in the past month, while unofficial estimates put the toll at above 200.

6. Why don't we send them to India without air conditioners?
After all, why are they allowed air conditioners at all? They don't 'believe' in the science that made them. And since everything is so hunky dory, they should accept God's thermometer and live 'au natural'.

4. I was working in a place called
Ras Laffan in Qatar last summer, and with a workforce of about 4000 construction workers (mostly Indians and Pakistanis) there seemed to be an average of 2 to 3 deaths a day from heatstroke (usually 42 to 48 degrees C). I never felt such oppressive heat before. Very dangerous and literally lethal temps over there. I feel for our troops this time of year having to wear body armor, helmet, etc.
