Rice to Lead Effort To Speed Iraqi Aid
Rice to Lead Effort To Speed Iraqi Aid

By Peter Slevin and Mike Allen

Tuesday, October 7, 2003; Page A01

President Bush announced yesterday that the White House will take a stronger role in overseeing the struggling effort to rebuild Iraq through a new group intended to speed the flow of money and staff to Baghdad and streamline decision-making in Washington.

The purpose of the new Iraq Stabilization Group is to "crack the whip, frankly," said a senior administration official, who described a sense of urgency amid persistent trouble in Iraq and polls showing declining confidence in Bush.

"We're basically trying to figure out how it relates to the other 500 committees going on," a State Department official said. "It was not greeted as a major statement of interagency relations. We'll just see if it works."

This official said a stronger hand exerted by Rice could prove helpful in obtaining faster answers on such matters as spending, staffing and policy. But several officials and analysts noted that the groups are unlikely to solve the thorniest problems, which will continue to require decisions by Cabinet secretaries and their deputies. Consensus among them has often proved elusive, and Rice has often struggled to produce results.

2. She could send it on the oil tanker Rice
I believe she has one named after her. Let me see, she studied the Soviet Union for her doctorate and the oil industry named a boat after her. Do you think she really followed her PhD, or went elsewhere?

5. Condominium Rice feeds hungry
This won't get it either. It is a sham put up to deflect criticism.

If you say she is incompetent you are a racist. Like the Clarence Thomas thing.

If you intimated that he pulled out his "Long Dong Silver" you were a racist, according to Reagan's handlers.

She is clearly incompetent, and the hands of the corporate masters put her there as their puppet.

17. Can Rice and McNabb be considered competent at the same time?
Edited on Tue Oct-07-03 08:13 AM by rocknation
Trent Lott was right--if Strom Thurmond had been elected President, we wouldn't be having all these problems. But seriously, folks, it looks like Condi and Cheney have been chosen to be sacrificed to save the Pretzel-Dunce.

3. "A stronger hand exerted by Rice?"
Can't and won't prevent one ounce of blood that is being dropped, unless it's Paul Bremer's blood.

'Tis odd that not one word about Bremer in the new scheme of changes.

6. if only Condi had been a Democrat...
she'd be a celebrated here at DU as the MOST empowered woman of color that the United States has ever produced. Instead... well, the usual trashing will have to suffice. But in every sense she seems to be a remarkable person.

7. you're kidding right?
We have many good reasons to believe she is beyond incompetent, as well as dishonest.

My favorite Condi lie: We never dreamed they'd fly airplanes into buildings.

What's yours?

21. Funny one!!
But you forgot your /sarcasm sign off.

However, I'm sure your post was meant as sarcasm. No one but neo-cons believe she is anything but a "color" shill for the junta. Completely and abjectly incompetent.

A product of affirmative action, who now opposes it.

A "national security advisor" who did nothing about massive pre-9/11 warnings.

A Smirk enabler who goes on national tv every sunday to LIE about WMD and the rest of her master's agenda.

Completely and absolutely useless and incompetent. Not even a good liar, because her voice cracks and shakes so badly when she's lying (which is most of the time).

Now, she'll "head" the Iraq "reconstruction"??

HAH HAH HA HA H HA HA

10. You have got
to be kidding me? She is nothing just nothing. Simple fact: when in 2000 during the GOP Bush introduced Rice as an expert on USSR and fluent in Russian. I have a simple question. If she is fluent in Russian then why the hell she always needs an interpreter during her discussions with russian officials? The case rests.

12. Condi's another soldier getting her propoganda stripes
From CNN:
"McClellan said the Iraq Stabilization Group would oversee four areas: fighting terrorism, developing the economy, overseeing political affairs and working with the news media. National security adviser Condoleezza Rice will head up the group"
http://www.cnn.com/2003/WORLD/meast/10/06/sprj.irq.main/index.html

Has anyone noticed there have been no reports of casualties lately? Is it because there haven't been any, or because al-Jazeera is out of there?

I think Condi's new posting is an attempt to stifle even more bad news from iraq. It's obvious bush is pissed that so much of the truth gets out.

This entire thing sickens me.

15. she's being hung out to dry!
Condi's credibility is in the crapper. So she's being pushed in front of a speeding train by the USGOV. As the quagmire gets stickier, she will offer her resignation, but that's probably a few months down the road.

20. Condi Rice Who Couldn't Envision Planes Flying Into Bldgs
Who didn't know the niger document was a forgery, who ignored warnings about 9/11 is going to be in charge of Iraq? Condi Rice, the Nat'l Security advisor who has the worst record of protecting THIS country of any Nat'l Security advisor in history is now going to be in charge of the security of ANOTHER country too?!? That makes sense... You'd think she'd have her hands full trying to keep this country safe considering there are traitors in her midst and now she's taking on Iraq too! RUN FOR THE HILLS, CONDI'S IN CHARGE!!!!!
