Dean spans generations with seniors, students
http://timesargus.nybor.com/Local/Story/72728.html

Dean, who has who has criticized the Medicare program and supported efforts to control costs, told the seniors that he still believes Medicare is badly run but said his record as governor of Vermont proves his commitment to health care and the elderly. He argued that while his opponents spent years in Congress without making much progress, he was improving health insurance coverage in his state. "What do they have to show for it?" he said. "We need to clean house in Washington."

Clinton came up when an audience member asked Dean how he would handle the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as president. Dean said he would work on the problem "every single day" and would ask Clinton to travel to the Middle East to oversee negotiations. "The truth is we have to be able to bring peace by having the confidence of both sides at the negotiating table," he said. "I think Bill Clinton ought to go there, set up negotiations and keep both sides at the table."

In contrast to his rivals Sen. John Kerry and retired Gen. Wesley Clark - two veterans who emphasize their military experience in wooing voters - Dean said good judgment is the most important quality in a commander in chief. That was a quality his opponents lacked when the supported the war in Iraq, Dean said.

He also kept up his criticism of President Bush, saying the president lacks the backbone to confront Saudi Arabia and is allowing North Korea to become a nuclear power.

1. Go Howard
Reaching out to the young and the old. He also has ads in Spanish that he does the talking in. Not subtitled or somebody else speaking! He is getting out there and trying to reach people.

2. gee can you imagine?
He also kept up his criticism of President Bush, saying the president lacks the backbone to confront Saudi Arabia and is allowing North Korea to become a nuclear power.

A President who will actually confront the greatest source of terrorism (SA) and actually address the danger that NK poses? Unlike Jr. who only wants to deal with nations he can bribe or bully. I suspect all our Dem candidates would like to do these things that Bush has left undone.

It will be good to have a real President again.

5. Dean is correct
good judgment is the most important quality in a commander in chief

13. Heck, Kerry chose to listen to Bush over Byrd
Good judgment or political prudence? I'll take good judgment any day.

I love the fact Dean is coming off his youth outreach and going right into a senior outreach. Bridging the generations!!

7. Dean wants to send Bill Clinton to the Middle East
"I think Bill Clinton ought to go there, set up negotiations and keep both sides at the table."

I bet Bill would jump at the chance, too. In fact, how about a Sec. of State Bill Clinton? Is there precedence for a former pres taking that post?

14. JQP - I thought that was so cool, having the insight to see that
The Big Dog would be the perfect person for the ME. I like that about Dean too, not afraid to delegate, not intimidated by Clinton and his wide shadow. I believe Dean wants what's best for this country. (Remember, "It's not about me."). You go Howard.

8. There is a great divide among Dean supporters.
Young ones are termed DeanyBoppers
Old ones (over 50) are DeanyDuffers.

(According to my wife)

You heard it here first.

10. Yes! Dean understands
that throwing more money at problems is not always the best way to solve them. His record in Vermont proves that he's committed to providing quality health care for everyone.

12. I have to say this because I truly believe it. Flame away.
The Dems didn't take off their pink tutus until Dean came along. He was the first to powerfully speak out about these thugs in such a way that people listened. I know Kucinich and Graham were against the war and did speak out, but it didn't resonate like Dean and that's the difference.

I really feel that if Dean were not around and running such a brilliant and novel campaign, we would be hard pressed for viable candidates.

Dean has already shown his leadership with the "grassroots" Internet thing, blogs, campaigning, meetups, mentioning Clinton BEFORE anyone else dared to...I could go on. Then the rest followed.

Now here we are with some great candidates. I am proud of all of them (including Bob Graham who dropped out).

But, I will take Clinton's advice: The Big Dog said "Fall in love with your candidate, but in the end, fall in line." ABB.
