Israel won't rule out another attack in Syria
Monday, October 6, 2003 Posted: 10:23 PM EDT (0223 GMT)

JERUSALEM (CNN) -- The Israeli government is not ruling out another attack in Syria, a spokesman said Monday, adding that although Iran "is not a target," the strike over the weekend was aimed at putting pressure on both countries to cut their ties with Palestinian militants.

The attack on Syria followed a suicide bombing that killed 19 people Saturday in the Israeli city of Haifa.

Asked if Israel might stage another air strike like the one Sunday that targeted an alleged training camp for Palestinian militants in Syria, Israeli government spokesman Ranaan Gissin said in a telephone interview, "There could be more, there could be not."

"Iran is not a target," Gissin said, but added Iranians should stop supporting militants in Lebanon. He called for economic and diplomatic pressure on Tehran.

5. It is to laugh
Hard to find anything to laugh about on this topic, but blaming Israel for the problems is hilarious.

Syria sponsors terror against Israel and the two have never settled on peace despite several wars. This has been going on for 55 years and you blame Israel. I hope you are never a crime victim and run into a jury that thinks the same way.

6. I feel that, realistically.....
bushco can’t enter into another country at this time…not with the mess we have in Iraq and Afghanistan. It’s not so much as the quagmire, but the politics involved. Bushco needs to be drawn in, in a fashion that his base can accept without question.

Israel is the bait….they have to be attacked by someone other than the Palestinians…and Sharon appears to be out to encourage just that. Bushco has tied Israel to the stake and is waiting for the right predator to arrive.

11. There is no 'Bush' doctrine
Boy George never does any work himself, just like when he was at Harvard business school he just takes credit for other people's work. The policy of rationalizing unprovoked aggression that he's following is more properly called "the Hitler doctrine".

And no, this has nothing to do with Israel. They're just defending themselves against an aggressor that's been attacking them for over 50 years, most recently through proxy terrorist groups that they harbour on their own territory as well as financing and arming.

I can't help noticing that the last line of defence for many Israel-bashers around here is to blame Israel for Bush while blaming Bush for Israel's policies, and I think that's just dishonest. Bush is responsible for Bush's crimes, and Israel will always defend itself regardless of who's occuppying the White House.

12. Just like the Palestinian terrorists wont rule out
slaughtering more innocent women and babies. Israel has every right to defend itself. We attacked Afghanistan, why can't Israel attack Syria?
