Bush briefed on plane diversion

CRAWFORD, Texas Aides say President Bush was alerted when a New York-bound jetliner sent out a signal indicating a hijack in progress.

The plane -- a Virgin Atlantic flight from London -- was escorted by Canadian fighters to a landing in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and officials said the signal turned out to have been a false one.

However, spokesman Scott McClellan reports the president was briefed right away at his ranch in Texas -- and was updated by aides who were in on phone calls to Canadian authorities.

Three weeks ago, the White House took flak when aides decided not to interrupt a Bush bike ride in suburban Maryland to tell him a plane had strayed near the White House, forcing evacuations there and at the U-S Capitol.

2. Mr. Prezident, we have a situation with a plane ....
"no Mr. Prezident, not this plane, get up from under the seat and I will explain."

Oh, I feel so much better now, knowing that he was kept in the "loop".

5. Yeah, what's he going to do about it in Texas?
The Lazy W is probably the most protected airspace in the world. He doesn't have to start flying around the country in a panic, so why not tell him? (If they'd briefed him while he was in Maryland, would he have started biking in a panic?)

6. Maybe the MD incident...
was handled the way it was for a reason. It would be embarrassing to have to tell the world DUH-bya fell off his bike and hit his head due to an errant plane in D.C. airspace.

All those worldwide undecideds would have their minds immediately made up as to who the biggest dumbass on earth truly is. We couldn't trot him out on stage anymore without huge outbreaks of guffaws from heads of state.

7. USSR...for decades we heard that life in the USSR was not all
dark clouds over everyone's head. We heard that the jokes, quips, stories about their leaders and life under the leaders was rich and wild in humor - if you could trust the person you were talking to.

Well McLellan and his other handlers must trust us to give us this great joke on Friday, June 3.

8. Not the loop I'd like to see him in. Disclaimer below
Disclaimer: while I disagree with much of Mr.bush's policies, I would never advocate or condone violence against him. Never ever. I want him in jail, not violenced. My subject line just seemed to fit the topic.
