Mass. Lawmakers Override Stem Cell Veto
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Filed at 3:44 p.m. ET

BOSTON (AP) -- The Legislature on Tuesday overrode Gov. Mitt Romney's veto and approved a bill designed to propel Massachusetts to the forefront of embryonic stem cell research.

The bill immediately became law over Romney's objections, after both chambers exceeded the two-thirds vote needed to override a veto. The vote was 112-42 in the House and 35-2 in the Senate.

32. I don't think Romney has ever had a veto that wasn't over-ridden
He's such a big baby.

When he couldn't get his way on gay marriage, he actually went over his own head and whined to the federal government. "Misterrrrr PrrrrEssssidennnnnnt... my lawmaaaaaaakers wonnnn't do what I WaaAaAAaaannnnt! It's MY state! MINE! MINE!"

He's taken unprecedented steps well outside the legitimate bounds of his office to fight against marriage equality.

Even his own Attorney General called bullshit on him.

God, I hope he runs for president.

Win or lose, it will at least get him out of Massachusetts.

10. Remind me again, why MA EVER elects republican governors??
It's obvious that they want democrats doing their business, and yet they (and NY:eyes:) put republicans in the governor's mansion..I don't get it....Same with CA..It makes NO sense:(

15. They run as "moderates"
but when push comes to shove, they will bend over back wards to please the NATIONAL Republican Party, which currently would even make Goldwater look like a Liberal.

You can kiss Pataki goodbye. FORGET COX, not a chance. GO SPITZER.

too...moderates who are afraid to use straight-talk, and call their "opponents" LIARS..

That was one thing I admired about Dean.. He was never afraid to call BULLSHIT..

that Mitt Romney is on his way out! His family hails from my state, Michigan, and his dad was a much more progressive politician than his son.
Thank Gawd for the Massachussets legislature....and the judiciary!

18. The right wing freaks in Utah just love Mitt...
...he's like a slightly less reptilian version of Orrin Hatch. They think since he doesn't automatically make you wretch, he may just stand a chance at getting elected President. It goes with out saying that, in general, Utah voters aren't very sophisticated.

21. How much you want to bet Romney carries the state of Mass
if he is the Repug nomn in 08? Romney will carry the state of Mass. Unlike in the south is with Democrats who are from that state, Northerners are still eager to support national Republican candidates if they are from that state. I would be willing to bet 1000.00 if this were 08 and he was the Republican nominee That Mass would be in his column come election night. So pull that liberal halo from the top of your heads.

his approval numbers are near 30%. He probably won't win re-election next year ... if he even runs at all.

And his making fun of our state while traveling across the country have gone over real well here ...

33. I've been telling my reps NOT to over-ride Romney's vetoes
They're just enabling him by shielding the voters from the consequences of Romney's actions.

I think they should have let some of his draconian budget cuts stand.

You know Romney actually vetoed a bill that would have prevented a trash transfer station from being built next to a reservoir?

That veto was over-ridden.

And some pro-Romney Libertarian told me, "Well, people should exercise the personal responsibility to drink bottled water."
