1. May has not been a good month....
actually, none of them have been good since the giggling murder monkey started this illegal war, but it seems as if the pace has picked up lately.
BRING THE TROOPS HOME, NOW! No one should die for a tankful of gas.

Another DUer thought it might be related to this. If it is I have to agree... :wtf:

http://www.rememberseptember44.com/

On 17 September 1944 thousands of paratroopers descended from the sky by parachute or glider up to 150 km behind enemy lines. Their goal: to secure to bridges across the rivers in Holland so that the Allied army could advance rapidly northwards and turn left into the lowlands of Germany, hereby skirting around the Siegfried line, the German defence line. If all carried out as planned it should have ended the war by Christmas 1944.

Unfortunately this daring plan, named Operation Market Garden, didn't have the expected outcome. The bridge at Arnhem proved to be 'a bridge too far'. After 10 days of bitter fighting the operation ended with the evacuation of the remainder of the 1st British Airborne Division from the Arnhem area.

10. That's what I thought as well
New Market Garden. Another huge failure which will only bring more dead and wounded since it is a bridge too far.

4. RIP marine
another to be mourned this Memorial Weekend - while families go on their after school vacations and picnics and while away their days oblivious to the war that takes page 32 in any larger newspaper.

Mission Accomplished:

Thousands Dead
Billions Spent

and nominated so perhaps someone else will notice the dying :(

5. the corporate media tries to hide the extent of the tragedy that is Iraq
but the American people are still being delivered the truth, in the form of flag-covered coffins being delivered to small towns all across the nation.

The Soviet Union also tried to hide the cost of Afghanistan, until the mothers and fathers of the dead finally rose up and said, "enough" and helped bring down the corrupt system. If anything good can come from our own war, perhaps something similar to what happened in the Soviet Union will happen here.

7. Not just a marine, but a Major
Major Ricardo A. Crocker
http://www.icasualties.org/oif/prdDetails.aspx?hndRef=5-2005

A high value hit for the resistance, not sure if he was the commander of the whole 1000-men operation, but quite likely a battallion commander. This casualty will cause at least moderate disarray for the operation.
