Blair starts whirlwind G8 mission

UK Prime Minister Tony Blair has held talks with Italy's Silvio Berlusconi as he begins a diplomatic offensive ahead of July's G8 summit.

Mr Blair said the talks had been "friendly and constructive". They had agreed on the way ahead on raising aid for Africa and tackling climate change.

This is the final phase of talks before the G8 industrialised nations meet at Gleneagles, says Downing Street.

Mr Blair will also visit the US, Russia, France and Germany.

1. I hope the foreign media bring up the Downing Street Minutes
at every press conference! Blair is a lame duck and should be treated as such, imo.
