7 American soldiers killed in Iraq attacks
3 killed Tuesday, 4 on Monday, U.S. military says

.

The Associated Press
Updated: 8:19 a.m. ET May 24, 2005

BAGHDAD, Iraq - A car bomb blast killed three U.S. soldiers in central Baghdad on Tuesday, while four more soldiers died in another explosion a day earlier south of the Iraqi capital, the military said.

In addition, six Iraqis were killed near a Baghdad junior high school for girls on Tuesday, a day after 49 Iraqis died in a string of explosions, suicide attacks and drive-by shootings.

According to the U.S. military, three American troops died in an explosion caused by a bomb-rigged car that detonated next to a convoy in central Baghdad at about 1:30 p.m. (4:30 a.m. ET) on Tuesday.

Iraqi police cordoned off the area and a U.S. military investigation is under way, U.S. military spokesman Sgt. David Abrams said. The names of the soldiers were being withheld pending next-of-kin notification.

Separately, the military announced Tuesday that that four more soldiers were killed Monday by a homemade bomb in Haswa, about 30 miles south of Baghdad. .........

14. His reasoning was sounding so rediculous I was waiting for
him to say "when the insurgents are winning it means they are losing, ALRIGHT!!!".

I don't know how someone wakes up and gives the same line of BS every single day, day after day after day after day....

What a humble christian, huh?

My step brother just joined up. It's a long story. His mother hates this president and this war. If something happens to him, I fully support her right to hit this man with her shoe (if she survives the shock).

...but things are getting better right? Democracy is taking hold right? We are improving the lives of the Iraqi's right?

There were Weapons of Mass Destruction right?

Clearly this shows that the Iraqi 'insurgents' are growing weaker.

28. I was just reading on Yahoo news,
and it looks like there are more US deaths. I think the article said "8 US troops dead in Iraq".

The number of casualties is GOING UP. The number is increasing. And it's because of the unguarded weapons dump at Al-Qaqaa.

Notice, almost every death is bomb-related; an explosion, a rigged car, a bomb planted under the road, Bradley vehicle drives over it, etc etc.

RumsFailed is resposible for the deaths of his own troops.

5. brought em on
Bush said bring em on, and now they're comin on.. agin us and agin us.

But we have to keep fighting to bring freedom to the poor Iraqi's. That's what they want, and it's what God wants for them.

Bush knows that because God told him, personally, I'm sure.

Battle spills over Pakistan border
5 tribesmen dead after U.S. forces pursue insurgents

Zulfiqar Ali, Paul Watson, Los Angeles Times

Monday, May 23, 2005

Peshawar, Pakistan -- A battle between U.S. forces and insurgents in eastern Afghanistan spilled across the border into Pakistan during the weekend, and witnesses said U.S. rocket fire killed five Pakistani tribesmen.

U.S. attack helicopters opened fire in Lawara Mandai, a Pakistani border town in the North Waziristan tribal region, as U.S. forces pursued insurgents after what the U.S. military called an ambush by guerrillas, according to officials and residents.

Although Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf quietly allows U.S. "hot pursuit" missions when guerrillas cross from Afghanistan into Pakistan, opposition groups have denounced the incursions as illegal attacks on sovereign Pakistani territory.
(snip)

Pakistani Army spokesman Maj. Gen. Shaukat Sultan said the U.S.-led troops violated the country's territorial jurisdiction and fired several shells, which hit near Lawara Mandai. Sultan said the coalition commanders on the Afghan side of the border had informed their Pakistani counterparts about the operation in the area.

Eight American soldiers killed in Iraq
Car bomb kills two civilians
Tuesday, May 24, 2005 Posted: 10:13 AM EDT (1413 GMT)

A Baghdad car bomb blast Tuesday near an Iraqi police convoy killed two civilians, police said.

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Insurgent attacks during the past 24 hours have killed eight U.S. soldiers in Iraq, the military said Tuesday.

Three soldiers died in a car bombing in central Baghdad on Tuesday and a fourth -- who was manning an observation post -- was killed by a drive-by gunman, Task Force Baghdad spokesman, Maj. Darryl Wright said.

Four other American soldiers were killed by a bomb on Monday, the military said. They were assigned to the 155th Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force.

The explosive "detonated near their vehicle" in fighting in Haswa, south of Baghdad.

The deaths bring the number of U.S. troops killed in the Iraq war to 1,643, according to U.S. military reports.

19. shiite areas hit per article

Shiite areas hit
A blast Monday outside the Shiite mosque in Mahmudiya's al-Jazair neighborhood south of Baghdad killed two people and wounded 22 others, including 11 children, police said.

Earlier Monday, a bomb exploded outside a popular eatery in a Shiite area of Baghdad, killing at least 10 Iraqis and wounding more than 110 others, an Iraqi emergency police official said.

The blast caused major structural damage to the Habyibna restaurant outside the Sadr City neighborhood and destroyed 16 cars, police said.

The official said police suspect sectarian violence, because most of the diners were followers of militant Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr.

24. The Iraqis have improved their killing ability since the US invaded
Even when this war does end there are going to be some very skilled bomb makers and hardened combat veterans who will know our military tactics very well. And they will go on to train others, who will train others, etc. Their knowledge will become a very valuable commodity throughout the world. Pretty bleak when you stop and think about it. bin Laden must be very happy. I hope someone at the Pentagon is looking at a similar graph as the one you have produced.

21. 8 US troops killed in Iraqi attacks - 13 US soldiers killed since Sunday
http://www.canada.com/national/nationalpost/news/story.html?id=4fc63b3a-cbb6-4cf0-8a46-8b1054d2ced9

BAGHDAD, Iraq -- A car bomb exploded Tuesday near a Baghdad junior high school for girls, killing six people, and seven American soldiers were killed in two days of bombings in and around Baghdad, the military said.

An eighth American died in the two days of attacks. A military spokesman said gunmen killed a U.S. soldier in a drive-by shooting at an observation post in Baghdad Tuesday.

The shooting came about a half hour after a car bomb hit a U.S. convoy in the city. That attack killed three Americans. Iraqi police cordoned off the area and U.S. military investigators were examining the scene.

The U.S. deaths raised the total to 13 Americans killed since Sunday. Those reports came as insurgents carried out a string of explosions, suicide attacks and drive-by shootings around the country that killed 49 Iraqis.
