Rush: 'Trust me'
Edited on Sat Oct-04-03 01:18 PM by rmpalmer
http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/123523p-110915c.html

Purported pill-popping pundit Rush Limbaugh returned to the airwaves yesterday with a message for his loyal listeners: "Just trust me on this."

Limbaugh did not deny that Florida police were investigating whether he bought thousands of black-market painkillers.

"It really is an emerging situation," Limbaugh said on his syndicated radio talk show. "When I get all the facts, rest assured I will discuss it with you."

The roaring right-winger - who regularly ripped into former President Bill Clinton for parsing his words - took a Clintonesque approach to reports that he illegally bought massive amounts of OxyContin, Lorcet and hydrocodone tablets.

"I'm not even going to characterize this on how you should look at this in the press," said Limbaugh, who said he got more than 35,000 supportive E-mails. "I'm going to come clean when I get all the facts and details."

1. he was on a secret undercover mission
Let me guess, he was on an undercover mission to fight drug trafficking, just like honorary DEA agent Elvis Presley.

4. When he gets all the facts?
Whatever that means. One would think he'll just clam up on his attorney's advice. After all, he is the subject of a criminal investigation.

Mr. Limbaugh, if you are reading this, please get help if you need it. Take time off if you need to. Get yourself straightened out, please.

5. LOL... "when I get all the facts"
If the email and wire evidence are not false... then what 'facts' does he need? Whether or not he is going to get a pass for behavior he has said should get people sent up the river?

What does this mean "I'm gong to come clean...."???

6. So... who here would trust a junkie?
Edited on Sat Oct-04-03 01:29 PM by DemsUnite
"I'm gonna kick tomorrow, I swear. Just one more fix."

Rush will continue the lie until he hits rock bottom. Just like every addict in denial.

Rush should just come out of the closet already. I suspect if he looks deep down, that is the source of his anger, denial and self-destructive behavior. "Jeff Christie" is still there behind the mask.

(edited for clarity)

lyrics are kind of prophetic, dontcha' think, esp the 1st line and the last verse.....

ministry

never trust a junkie...

blood keeps drinking away
certain of its destination
driving through new orleans at night
gotta find a destination

just one fix...

life keeps slipping away
fighting in a war with damnation
poised, keep cutting away
i'm looking in through to salvation

just one fix...

like if I boarded a train
trying to take in another station
join us and the choice will be made
unless we kill the lie as a nation

just one fix...

I just can't believe the major media outlets had no idea of Rush's little problem with all of their tentacles. None of them really acted surprised.

11. Except that Rush himself argued in favor of prison for others...
...and so should now accept the same fate that he wished on other drug addicts....

"There's nothing good about drug use," he was saying. "We know it. It destroys individuals. It destroys families. Drug use destroys societies. Drug use, some might say, is destroying this country. And we have laws against selling drugs, pushing drugs, using drugs, importing drugs. And the laws are good because we know what happens to people in societies and neighborhoods which become consumed by them. And so if people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused and they ought to be convicted and they ought to be sent up."

And this includes zillionaire radio hosts? Hmmm ...

When you have a talk-radio show 15 hours a week, you have an awful lot of air to fill. On this particular day, which was Oct. 5, 1995, Rush was roaring about the scourge of illegal drug use. Even though blacks and whites break the drug laws in roughly equal percentages, he noted, black druggies go to prison far more often than white druggies do. But to the liberal-bashing host, this was no reason to ease up on blacks.

"What this says to me," he told his listeners that day, "is that too many whites are getting away with drug use. Too many whites are getting away with drug sales. Too many whites are getting away with trafficking in this stuff. The answer to this disparity is not to start letting people out of jail because we're not putting others in jail who are breaking the law. The answer is to go out and find the ones who are getting away with it, convict them and send them up the river, too."

38. Ask the minorities imprisoned for minor drug charges...
Edited on Sat Oct-04-03 08:39 PM by loudnclear
If the charges are true and Rush doesn't go to jail, they should empty the jails of people who have been imprisoned for "using."

But since Jebs daughter didn't go to jail for her "three strikes" I guess Rush won't go either. The laws are only meant for the poor and blacks ...they don't apply to the wealthy whites in this country.

17. Rush Irony
Limbaugh paused from his rant to do a commercial for TheraGesic ointment, "the first name in pain therapy."

I laughed my ass off yesterday when I heard this. Yes, I was torturing myself by tuning into his show, but I wanted to hear how he was going to spin his drug use and his firing (I mean - resignation) from ESPN. When I heard the TheraGesic commercial, I thought, well now are we supposed to believe TheraGesic is really effective, if you're popping 100+ OxyContin pills a day?????

Edited on Sat Oct-04-03 02:20 PM by alg0912
...and I hope he gets the help he needs for his addiction.

However, I hope he is judged by the same narrow-minded standards that he has used to judge others in similar cirumstances. Those doing such judging will no doubt be that same people whom he has cultivated for 15 years... his listeners. And I hope he's put out of the radio business for good when they stop listening to him.

26. He's already been in rehab twice, obviously to no avail.
I look at this as a medical problem, but in light of Rush, the hypocrite pontificating about how all druggies should be sent to jail and it doesn't make one bit of difference whether they are disproportionally black. That makes me sick :puke:

I have trolled FR and these people are like the OJ jury. You could show them a video of Rush dealing and they wouldn't believe it. Or, there are many "poor Rush and his drug dependency...hope he gets treatment and then comes back on the air bec he's such a great guy!

34. Detox and Rehab are two vastly different things...
Edited on Sat Oct-04-03 07:17 PM by Junkdrawer
Detox is a medical procedure. Rush went twice to a celebrity 24 hr. detox that uses anesthesia to "painlessly" detox opium addicts.

Rehabs are intensive counseling retreats that last from one to nine months. They attempt to get you to examine and change your life. Rush has never done a rehab. If the courts were merciful, they would mandate a rehab for El Rushbo. However, it looks like he will use his money and power to elude rehab. Oh well, as someone once said to me when I refused treatment: "Suffer, you bastard".

Reply 34 - Posted by: lionesse, 10/4/2003 9:14:26 AM

I trust Rush...I trust that he will tell me what he wants me to know, when it is the appropriate time. I trust him to tell me only what I need to know, not the sordid details.
And I really don't care whether he was or was not addicted to painkillers....It doesn't negate at all his fine mind and character.
I would trust my daughter in a Motel 6 with Rush....and I don't and wouldn't trust slick Willy and his gang in the same situtation.
Nuff said.
