Lawyer condemns jailing of Saddam
Giovanni di Stefano -- interviewed Friday afternoon by CNN's Wolf Blitzer -- expressed outrage that the former dictator has not been charged since he was taken into custody in December 2003.

...

"When is this man going to be charged? This is what the whole world wants. Never mind about photographs of Saddam Hussein in his underpants. That will be dealt with by the Pentagon and their aggressive inquiry," an apparent sarcastic reference into the U.S. military's expressed intention to get to the bottom of how the photos got in the newspaper.

...

"He's not a happy man," di Stefano said. "No one likes to be in custody. To a certain extent, he still considers himself to be the president of the country."

But he said if Saddam is guilty of something or anything, "why not bring charges?"

1. I was wondering the same thing - how long are we going to keep him
in jail without giving him a trial? Is it even legal to keep him in custody without even charging him of something? Maybe the case against him was built around charging him with WMDs and now they have to find something else to charge him with. Is it legal to charge someone with possessing too much oil that isn't ours?

2. Intelligent questions, but I bet they were lost on the audience.
Wouldn't want to charge him with anything, because then the BFEE might be threatened when he has to take the stand with all that he knows.

4. Remember how his capture was going to defeat the insurgency?

5. WMDs violation was the reason for Invasion of Iraq.
No WMDs. What legal justification is there to hold Saddam in prison now?

6. Saddam will die before charges are ever brought - (doh)

good Lawdy knows that he could hang the US on previous AND present dealings with Iraq

Saddam will probably die of some mysterious disease before he ever gets to speak to the world again -

Y'all know that no one in the USA administration want the world to know what was behind the handshake with Rummy decades ago

or to hear the truth about "Death Road" as the Americans massacred tens of thousands of retreating Iraqis by shooting them in the backs on the ground from their multi-million dollar jets after they were well back into Iraq = yup them brave Amerikkkan warriors - having a turkey shoot -

Brave Americans my ass

bunch of blood-lusting murderers

support the troops?

I think not --

but I'm just a Canuk
