Mrs. Bush: Trip should've been interrupted

The Associated Press

SHANNON, Ireland (AP) — First Lady Laura Bush says her husband should have been interrupted during his biking trip last week to be told that the White House and Capitol were under an emergency evacuation...

Mrs. Bush said she was with former first lady Nancy Reagan and her husband's aunt Nancy Ellis when the White House went on red alert and they were taken to an underground bunker together. Mrs. Reagan was in town to promote a heart health campaign with Mrs. Bush.

"We were not fearful, Nancy Reagan or I," Mrs. Bush said. She said they were only in the bunker for about two minutes when the pilot, who was off course and mistakenly entered the restricted zone, turned back...

"In the United States if there's a terrible report, people don't riot and kill other people," she said. "And you can't excuse what they did because of the mistake — you know, you can't blame it all on Newsweek. But at the same time, it was irresponsible, and that's too bad."

2. WTF?

Does Pickles want to talk about irresponsible? Between her husband and her daughters this woman doesn't have a clue what responsible behavior is supposed to look like. While she smiles at the graves of 100,000+ Iraqis that her irresponsible shithead of a husband is responsible for.

See, folks, if we had a "liberal media," that'd be the headline.

4. Last week a local radio caller who is Retired Secret Service

called in. He a regular caller to radio station WPTT 1360 Pittsburgh to all of the local hosts, Doug, Lynn, Jerry. It is verified that he is retired Secret Service. I heard him talking to Lynn Cullen on Friday.

He said he was talking to the head of Bush's detail (ex Secret Service classmate) and said it was a Bush staffer (unnamed) who told SS not to tell Bush.

He said Bush was furious but the WH didn't want to admit it nor openly fire the person responsible immediately but that a head would roll in a month or two.

Is this the start of the spin to the firing. And will we know who gets canned? Probably some staff weenie will get blamed for a higher ups failure as usual.

8. And, in a broader sense, the students that

were bashed in the heads and dragged because they read "reports"and saw pictures on TV about the Viet Nam killings.

Civil Rights marches which turned into beatings and jail time because "they knew of something that was unjust."

The Watts Riot and the other horrors after the news that MLK Jr. had been shot and killed by a racist.

IMO Little Laura needs to read a little more before she mouths off on issues that any "librarian" should understand.

There is less than air in that head of hers.

First Lady Not Worried About Mideast Trip

Friday May 20, 2005 5:46 PM

By NEDRA PICKLER

Associated Press Writer

AMMAN, Jordan (AP) - First lady Laura Bush said Friday that she isn't worried about security on her five-day trip to Jordan, Israel and Egypt.

Arriving in Jordan on Friday, Mrs. Bush was greeted by the country's minister of tourism and antiquities, Alia Hatough-Bouran. She had no public events Friday as she prepared for a speech she was to deliver Saturday before the World Economic Forum.

Mrs. Bush said she hopes she can help repair the U.S. image she said has been damaged by a recently retracted Newsweek report that American interrogators desecrated the Quran, as well as documented abuse of Iraqi detainees at Abu Ghraib prison.

``We've had terrible happenings that have really, really hurt our image of the United States,'' she said on the flight between Andrews Air Force Base and a refueling stop in Ireland. ``And people in the United States are sick about it.''

12. Why should she be worried....
..with the the 3 countries she's visiting. I should think she would be visiting Iraq and Iran. Also, why is she speaking at the World Economic Forum, what on earth would she know about world economics.
