Sometimes people actually do what they threaten. It is unfortunate, but, of course, the Secret Service and FBI have to investigate. Sad that someone did this, but it can't be ignored.

But, it is also possible that the person who did this was just a prankster trying to show off. It wasn't necessarily an ecoterrorist. It might be a pseudoecoterrorist. Or a disturbed teenager judging from the neighborhood. What strange and useless acts. You never know.

I thought the FGWB was the only reason the SS was investigating. There were others, such as Bomb the White House. I could see the investigation into that.

But the guy they interviewed toward the end that had his SUV painted on and tires slashed, he didn't see all that upset. He said he understands the spray painting but they shouldn't have slashed the tires. He also said he was surprised of the investigation but as long as they catch the perpetrators. To me, this guy wasn't a GWB supporter. Good for him!

The best protests do not target individuals, at least not permanently. If the ELF crap had been written in greasepaint, that is one thing...but spray paint and slashed tires, naaaah. Tires cost money. And the BOMB THE WH sign is just STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPID. It's begging for excessive involvement. If they'd left the F Bush business at just that, there would not be this issue.

I like bumperstickering them, myself. If I were of a mind to do that sort of stuff, and I am not, too old, too lazy, I'd hit them with clever bumperstickers that put their political point across, but can be removed without too much pain. Odds are they'd drive off to work and not even see them, and confuse the hell out of people behind them in traffic on the way to work.

I'd be really pissed if someone did that to my car. It took 2 hours to get some crap off my car after it dripped on my car in a parking garage. I filed a claim and was pretty annoyed - if it was paint I'd be really angry - especially if it was just someone who decided for me that they didn't like the size of the car I chose to drive.
