Iraq Qaeda leader defends slaying of Muslims
Edited on Wed May-18-05 11:26 AM by ckramer
Al Qaeda's leader in Iraq defended the killing of "innocent Muslims" in suicide bombings against U.S. forces, saying it was legitimate under Islam for the sake of jihad (holy war), according to an audio tape attributed to him on Wednesday.

"The killing of infidels by any method including martyrdom (suicide) operations has been sanctified by many scholars even if it means killing innocent Muslims. This legality has been agreed upon ... so as not to disrupt jihad," Abu Musab al-Zarqawi said on the tape posted on an Islamist Web site.

The Jordanian militant, Washington's biggest foe in Iraq, quoted Muslim scholars to justify the loss of Muslim lives in suicide attacks in Iraq. His message appeared aimed at winning Sunni Muslim support for the insurgency.

"Protecting religion is more important than protecting (Muslim) lives, honour or wealth," said the man who sounded like Zarqawi. "The shedding of Muslim blood ... is allowed in order to avoid the greater evil of disrupting jihad."

1. Zarqawi justifies Muslim deaths
Dubai - Anti-US attacks in Iraq which also kill Muslim civilians, do not violate Islamic law, al-Qaeda's feared frontman in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi said in a purported tape posted on the internet on Wednesday.

The recording emerged as the US military said that leaders close to Zarqawi had ordered a recent car bombing campaign that has killed hundreds in Iraq.

"It is legitimate to shoot all infidels with all the kinds of arms that we have," said the voice, similar to those in earlier recordings attributed to Zarqawi.

"Killing Muslims who are serving as human shields (for the Americans) is allowed by the sharia," he said, backing his arguments with statements from several Muslim clergymen.

Has been justifying Muslim deaths since the invasion of Iraq.

Remember, first it was WMD's, then it was freedom for the Iraqi people, then it was Democracy for the Iraqi people.

4. abu musab al-zatqawi does not
have the right to declare this statement. it is interesting that no one including him has named any scholars who have stated this.also with my limited knowledge of the Koran, i think Muhammad forbid such things. sounds like more bullshit from a corrupter of faith-

12. There are no scholars that said any of that, it is all BS

There is nothing even close to saying it is ok because it could disturb "the jihad".

In Islam it is quite simple. If you live in an area where the rulers or the powerful are atheists and they are killing you because you are a Muslim you must fight them. After that the only people you are allowed to fight are oppressors.

You cannot kill any women or children or innocents, and care should be taken not to destroy trees, plants, other religious sites etc.

Those are the items that are 100% spelled out. People may try to twist things to meeting their own desires for power but those are the rules.

5. Can I have a show of hands?
How many think Al Zarqawi is a CIA creation, and does not actually exist in any recognized reality?

6. I think there is or was a real person by that name, once upon a time
Now he's just a convenient one-legged zombie who posts useful tapes "that sound like him" on Web sites.

They're trying to blur the fact that aQ was not supported by Hussein. Disgusting.
