Bolivians to stage energy protest
The hydrocarbon law, already approved by congress, would increase the total taxes and royalties paid by foreign energy firms to 50% of their revenues.

---

Trade unions, landless peasant farmers and neighbourhood groups are demanding the nationalisation of Bolivia's energy industry.

---

Separately, coca farmers, miners and supporters of opposition leader Evo Morales are planning a 200km (125 miles) march to La Paz.

They want foreign energy firms operating in Bolivia to pay a 50% fixed royalty on gas sales.
