Dean rips DeLay at (Massachusetts Democratic) Convention
Edited on Sun May-15-05 06:20 PM by johnfunk
Yeah, baby!BoGlo reports...
Howard Dean, chairman of the Democratic National Party, said yesterday that the US House majority leader, Tom DeLay, ''ought to go back to Houston where he can serve his jail sentence," referring to allegations of unethical conduct against the Republican leader.
Short, but sweet. No quarter!

1. Good!
Let the right wing get into a big flap over it and give Dean some coverage. Let folks know that Dems aren't all "get a long" wimps.

9. AAAAAARRRRGGGHHH
In comments that offended even members of his own party, Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean blasted House Majority Leader Tom DeLay on Saturday as a criminal, saying that the top Republican belongs in jail.

"I think Tom Delay ought to go back to Houston, where he can serve his jail sentence down there," Dean told Massachusetts Democrats at their state convention.

Incredibly, in the next breath the top Democrat complained about "this ugly, nasty dialogue that is coming from the right wing of the American Republican Party." Dean's comments drew a sharp rebuke from Rep. Barney Frank, who told the Boston Globe, "That's just wrong."

6. I Hope De Lay Isn't Prosecuted In Travis
I rather hope that if Travis County prosecutor Ronnie Earle gathers enough evidence to prosecute Tom De Lay, he will be gracious enough NOT to base the trial in Travis County, but would instead move it to someplace like New Braunfels or Fredericksburg.

I suspect that both New Braunfels and Fredericksburg are safely Republican territories these days. The trouble for accused miscreants, though, is that both locations are known for having jury pools with scant sympathy for criminal defendants. What better place to try DeLay, remove any allegation of liberal "bias," and embarrass the local Republican Party?

7. Hehehe, when Ed Markey introduced Dean yesterday, he introduced him as
"The best export from Vermont since Ben & Jerry's"

:)

It was a great day in Lowell yesterday. I left soon after Dean's speech though.
