N.M. Governor (Richardson-D) Criticizes GOP Congress (Dem radio address)
snip>
Richardson, in his party's weekly radio address, said, "Most people don't see the Republican-led federal government doing anything to give you, your business or your family a helping hand."
...
He said it took Congress four months to approve legislation to increase the death benefit for soldiers killed in combat. That was a provision in an $82 billion bill signed into law by President Bush on Wednesday.

While Congress was considering the proposal to improve military benefits, Richardson said, three dozen states "have pursued actions to provide greater assistance for our military men and women serving in the National Guard."
...
"In the last four months," he said, "Democratic governors have cut taxes, expanded access to health care, invested heavily in job creation, improved schools, made college more affordable, reduced crime, and -- while Republicans in Washington turned trillion-dollar surpluses into trillion-dollar deficits -- Democratic governors have actually balanced our budgets."

it WAS and STILL IS our most serious hurdle before us all.

2. WATCH THAT MAN CLOSELY!!!!!!!!!!!!
And mark my words...everytime he is getting ready to go into a race, or into a new job, he drops about 30 pounds and gets a new wardrobe. If we see him slimming down before 08, and getting all sartorial, expect to see him either running for president, or on the ticket as the balancing act as VP.

I like Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell--he is the best of America, smart as a whip, articulate as all get out (in both English and Spanish, seeing as he is of hispanic descent).

4. Don't like him
would never vote for him. He stopped a recount that could have benefited Kerry, probably because he wanted to run in '08. He had a chance to help clean up the election process and passed. I'll pass on him too.

6. Your vote, your choice!
I, otoh, would vote for him, gladly. I find him smart, with an alert, inquisitive, and reasoned mind.

But that is what America is, or used to be, all about--one voter, one vote. Would that we had those days back again!

7. Hey, if the state was blue, they took bases and jobs
In NM, 1071 jobs, to be precise. If the state was red, they closed a bunch of often unprofitable and underutilized facilities (making it "look" like the pain was equally distributed), but made up for it with "realignment."

There were some exceptions, but those (NC and FL, e.g.) were mitigated by the simple fact that the land, turned over to state/city municipalities, was hypervaluable, much of it being desirous seaside properties that could be easily developed with stately homes for wealthy fatcats, and the gov't assistance to do just that will no doubt be hastily forthcoming for those loyal Reds!!!

5. I don't like him....but I'm finally hearing a core of a message about how
the GOP is doing NOTHING for Americans...time to get more specific and also point out how it's all about doing for the big guys....
