Seniors get to try out new voting machines (BBV in CT)

GRISWOLD -- Senior citizens will get a chance Monday to try out the new electronic voting machines the town will use in the Nov. 4 municipal elections.

From 10 a.m. to noon, poll workers will greet a second round of training on the machines at Town Hall. At 12:30, the new machines will be taken to the Griswold Senior Center for people there to get acclimated to them.

Eight communities will test the new electronic voting machines in next month's election. AVANTE International Technology is providing the machines in Griswold.

Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz is expected to attend the demonstration at the center Monday. At the end of June, Bysiewicz invited eight communities to participate in testing the equipment to determine the type of voting system that will best serve Connecticut voters in the future.
