Home from Iraq war, dies in wreck

GRETNA, La. -- A soldier who helped set up military bases in Iraq and her mother died when an allegedly drunk driver ran through a stop sign and slammed into their car.

Anthony E. Reddick, 22, of Gretna, was booked with driving drunk and with vehicular homicides of Rikki Ross, 22, a Louisiana Air National Guard senior airman, and Janice Ross, 50.

Reddick's goddaughter, 3-year-old Dynisha K. Jones of Harvey, was in critical condition at Charity Hospital, spokesman Jerry Romig said. Police said she may have been on Reddick's lap; Reddick told reporters outside Gretna police headquarters Thursday that she was in a child-restraint seat but was not buckled in.

Jordan Grigsby, 2, and Bishop Grigsby, 1, of Harvey were sitting in a parked sport utility vehicle that was hit by Reddick's car; they received minor injuries, police said. The children's parent was having a conversation outside the vehicle at the time of Wednesday's crash.

2. So this drunk was doing 70-75 mph in a 25mph zone, blew through

a 4 way stop before running this stop sign AND had an unrestraind child in the car. Thank God the other children involved were in an SUV or there would have been two more deaths.
