1. How long before FedEx pilots strike for better maintenance?
If parts keep falling off their engines, they will get FedUp.

The ex was making 60 to 80k a year in 1987. I hope they settle their strike soon... and aren't out of work too long.

5. Well when they struck in '97 their union was busted
NO money. I remember that because I worked for a building supply company and we shipped and received lots of UPS everyday. I hope the union has their act together this time.

11. United might strike too. Heck, let's all go on strike, like tomorrow.
Tell Bush and the neocons that we're taking our ball and going home, because we don't like them changing the rules of the game so that they win and we lose.

A nationwide vote of no confidence and no support.

12. Why don't Democratic leaders come out in support?
The economic issues is where the interests of the socially conservative mainstream and those of the progressive minority really mesh. It would be great if a Dem senator or a group of congresspeople put out a statement clearly supporting labor in both the United and the UPS situations.

A clear, unambiguous statement showing exactly which party truly has the interests of the citizens at heart.

19. I come from a long line of Bubbas
And I know a good many of them. Not one who voted for Bush (there were many) liked it. They knew that Bush was and is hurting thme money/job wise. But they di so anyway because they could not stomach Kerry on social issues. I have long thought that if our party would find a pro labor popularist, progun, against gay marriage, fiscally responcible, who can be atleast somewhat of a moderate. This person would clean up in 2008. The time is right for a democrat, but he or she will have to meet the south at least half way on a few issues.

22. DLC member?
I think you described Kerry. The mushy middle is not the answer. Bubba needs to vote in his best interest and stop worrying that the queers will somehow harm his "marriage" and that the liberals will take away his guns. A Dem with conviction can convey that and not sacrifice any progressives, including gay americans.

25. You may be right but......
But the Bubbas are not going to vote for someone who is anti gun or pro gay marriage for the forseeable future. Sorry that is just it, and they vote. And we do need them. Not democratic president has won in living memory with out carrying at least a few southern states. I would much rather have a moderate democrat then a neocon.

38. Unions.
Power in numbers. Got to love it. I've suggested numerous times that my father get more involved with his (NALC / Nat'l Assoc. of letter Carriers), but he's not really that enthused. Big diff. between USPS Union and UPS, USPS carriers don't have the right to strike.

PEACE

John
