Russia Says It Uncovers U.S. Spy Activity
Patrushev told parliament that his agency, which is known by its Russian acronym FSB and is the main successor to the Soviet KGB, has prevented espionage operations by the United States, Britain, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

His comments came two days after President Bush visited Georgia, site of the "Rose Revolution" 18 months ago that marked the start of a wave of uprisings against entrenched leaders in ex-Soviet republics.

"The activity by these states was conducted by non-governmental organizations working in Russia," Patrushev said. He did not name any organizations or give details about the alleged spying.

1. They're so paranoid over there.
What these people are doing is trying to look into their souls.

2. I hate to break it to you but friends spy on friends
always have and always will. I bet down in DC in Embassy row there is not one embassy that does not have at least one of the staff that is a member of that nations intelligence agency and some have far more than that.

4. Very true
It is amazing how many dumb spies there are out there. The one of the best consipracy theories I ever hear was that the true intelligence agency of the US was never actually the CIA but the NSA. The CIA was in a way the front spy agency. It was all full of cowboys and Nazis that made big splashy headlines when they screwed up or some plot of theirs was uncovered drawing all the countries attention to themselves. Which left the NSA to the real business of spying undisturbed by public scrutiny

5. Russia Said to Uncover Spying by 4 Nations

Associated Press Writer

MOSCOW (AP) -- Russia's security chief said Thursday his agency has uncovered spy activity that was being conducted under the cover of non-governmental organizations from the United States, Britain, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

Federal Security Service chief Nikolai Patrushev also suggested that foreign governments are using NGOs to fund and support changes of power in former Soviet republics.

Patrushev's remarks reflected concern in President Vladimir Putin's Kremlin as it grapples with waning regional influence following the ascent of pro-Western governments in ex-Soviet states. The Kremlin is also worried about outside influence within Russia amid U.S. accusations of backsliding on democracy.

6. This is why aid agencies were leaving
Afghanistan, due to the American military using them as cover for military operations and spying. They've broken all rules of warfare since they've been in power it makes me sick.

This endangers the lives of all aid workers worldwide as they will now all be under suspicion. It may also lead them to leave countries where they're needed.

But hey, more dead children. So what

7. Because this obvious discovery
is noted so late AP derisively characterizes it as merely showing concern
by Putin that he can't hold his nation together. How about as short circuiting spy structures that obviously must be used to attain the Bush agenda in Iran and the ME? That the two were intertwined with world domination by the US makes me wonder why the famous KGB has done so little so late to protect its homeground.

How smart and competent are competent are any world leaders regarding pResident Nimblewit's crystal clear agenda? Apparently, not very.
