Fort Lewis soldier dies of injuries from Stryker convoy bombing

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

FORT LEWIS, Wash. -- A roadside bombing last month in Mosul has resulted in the death of a fourth Army soldier, family friends in Louisiana and fellow soldiers said.

First Sgt. Michael Bordelon, a father of three from St. Mary's Parish, La., and member of the Stryker Brigade based at this post south of Tacoma, died Tuesday at Brook Medical Center in San Antonio, where he was being treated for burns and other injuries, those close to the family said.

As of early Thursday the death of Bordelon had not been officially announced by the Department of Defense, although others in his unit mourned his passing on the Stryker Brigade News Web site Wednesday. Officials at Fort Lewis said they could not comment.

4. DoD will announce
Just as they have for the many others who have died in Brooke weeks or months after their wounds. And icasualties will have it as well, probably before the end of the day. The wounded who later die are counted. Stop making up stories.

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

1st Sgt. Michael J. Bordelon, 37, of Morgan City, La., died May 10 at Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, Texas, from injuries sustained April 23 in Mosul, Iraq, when a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device detonated near his Stryker military vehicle. Bordelon was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team), Fort Lewis, Wash.

Tell me again how the wounded who die later aren't counted?

7. good
it is a sin how the US is treating its soldiers. Bringing their dead bodies home in the dead of night so the dim murkins can't be reminded of the Qagmire in Iraq. And staggering the death count out so they don't make too many in one day.

:grr:

8. They lost another Stryker soldier in the same attack...
<snip>

Those who died earlier following from the bombing of an Army convoy April 23 in Mosul were Sgt. Anthony J. Davis Jr., 22, of Long Beach, Calif., also a Stryker Brigade member, and two soldiers from Fort Carson, Colo.

Bordelon, a member of the First Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment, Bravo Company, was on his second tour of duty in Iraq. One of his duties was to write the relatives of other Stryker soldiers who died in action. The regiment has lost nine soldiers in nearly eight months in Iraq.

... this is beyond sad. :cry:
