Students boycott popular clothing store
Students boycott popular clothing store
By Matt Cota
KSBY-TV

Students are calling for a boycott of the Gap, in hopes that their withdrawal of support will trickle down to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. At a rally in downtown Santa Barbara, protesters urged shoppers to boycott the gap because its founder, Don Fisher, is a big supporter of the governor.

The students oppose the governor's proposed cuts to school funding.
"Gap sells to students so we want to make people aware that a company that makes money off of students is supporting someone who doesn't support students, and that is a problem,"said Elia Boggia, gap protestor.

According to campaign finance records, Fisher has donated more than $200,000 to Schwarzenegger and his political campaign committees.

4. I've been boycotting the Gap, Old Navy and Banana
Republic for years because the owners wanted to take down big red wood trees for development in California. I don't' know if they succeeded but I'll still never buy from them.

6. Gap isn't what it used to be...
Edited on Thu May-12-05 12:30 AM by Scooter24
They are trying to emulate the styles that Abercrombie & Fitch, American Eagle, and Hollister are doing. Their clothes use to stand out, today its just another mainstream brand that has gotten boring.

Good job to these students for standing up for what they believe in. :)
