Spokane wants state, feds to investigate mayor

SPOKANE — The city of Spokane has asked the FBI and the state Attorney General's Office to investigate allegations that Mayor Jim West used the perks of his office to entice young men he met in a gay online chat room.

Spokane City Attorney Mike Connelly made the requests yesterday, after the FBI confirmed it had opened a preliminary inquiry into a possible public corruption case against West.

"In light of allegations made in the last two days and the FBI inquiry as well as the possible conflict of interest with both city and county law enforcement, we believe it is in the best interest of the citizens and the city of Spokane to request these investigations by independent agencies," Connelly said in a written statement.

The city will continue its own investigation to determine whether West has violated city policies, Connelly said.

which has controlled and oppressed Spokane for two decades and is a fierce backer of West. I don't think West can be separated from them. I think an independent investigation will find West guilty of using city property for his own use and hiring off chat room sites for the wrong reasons at City expense. The Cowles just closed their eyes for their own gain. Don't you just love these self-proclaimed conservative republicans?

Prior to 9/11 the FBI were under investigation for mass corruption, but on 9/12, those investigations ceased and FBI were given more powers.

...my son and I were volunteers on The Task Force on Human Relations (when my son was 15). I do not recall West there at that time.

West has been Sugar-Daddy to many very young men for many years at tax-payer's expense. He has worked in District 81, Juvenile Court, and everywhere the boys are.

The Mark Fuhrman Radio Talk show on KGA, Spokane, made a public request for West to resign.
