Former homeland security head dismisses charge Canada soft on terrorism
TORONTO (CP) - The security czar first charged with leading the fight against terrorism in the United States has rejected American complaints that Canadian security and immigration systems are lax.

In fact, former U.S. homeland security secretary Tom Ridge praised Canada on Wednesday as an able partner in guarding the world's longest border.

"I don't accept the thesis that Canada is lenient or hasn't done what it needs to do to advance their interest and doing their share to combat terrorism," Ridge said after a luncheon speech to business leaders.

"The law enforcement and intelligence community collaboration is excellent."

2. Has anyone seen anything re: Ridge and terror levels being raised?
I saw this earlier on CNN while I was at the doctor. Something about Ridge saying that the White House would raise the terror alert levels when Homeland Security and Ridge said it was not warranted. He said it happened a number of times. I haven't seen anything on this since.
