Internet, Radio Blamed for Discrimination
WASHINGTON - Anti-Muslim Internet traffic and radio broadcasts are fueling an atmosphere of hate and contributing to increased discrimination, the Council on American-Islamic Relations said Wednesday.

Hate crimes against Muslims rose 52 percent to 141 last year compared with 2003, and civil rights violations reported to the council jumped 49 percent to 1,522.

"Whenever there is a beheading or act of terrorism overseas that involves Muslims, we see a rise in reported incidents here," said Ibrahim Hooper, a spokesman for the council.

The trend is toward "rising Islamophobic rhetoric in American society," said Arsalan Iftikhar, the council's legal director.

1. The Internet? Anyone can post anything on the Internet.
That's like blaming humanity for discrimination.

I can see them criticizing radio and television though.

2. right wing shout radio needs to be shut down.
these EVIL racist fucks have been inciting violence and hate ever since the fairness act was repealed and the M$MW has mostly ignored them at best or PRAISED them at worst.

and the M$MW have the nerve to get uppity when ever a left-leaning site has the luck to get one of their many damaging facts out into the open that even in the slightest way may reflect negatively on them or their elite masters :argh:

With the whole 'imminent lawless action' test (replaced "clear and present danger"):

"...the constitutional guarantees of free speech and free press do not permit a State to forbid or proscribe advocacy of the use of force or of law violation except where such advocacy is directed to inciting or producing imminent lawless action and is likely to incite or produce such action." (Brandenburg v. Ohio)

This also, obviously, applies to the federal government. Yay for select incorporation.

And since we can tie the "shout radio" to the government (the FCC), all we really need to do is gather some funds, some amicus curiae briefs, someone who actually has suffered damage because of this (think Linda Brown), and we might just have a shot.

All we'd really have to prove is that they're trying to provoke violence.

Yay for AP Government and Politics.

edited to fix a missing letter

4. i'm just a web monkey but i think you may be on to something
there must be a law against incitement to violence or disturbing the peace or sometin

but how much would it cost? and we'd be filling suits almost daily with the way these freaks go off the deep-end.

it would be grand if citizens could band together and file suit WHENEVER they feel THREATENED just like big bizz does whenever they feel threatened.

i bet that would get their attention... we wouldn't even need to win, just get the issue out there.

maybe we need a new website

:hi:
