Vandals desecrate Jewish graves in France
STRASBOURG, France (Reuters) - Vandals have smashed and knocked over headstones of more than 60 graves in a Jewish cemetery in eastern France, the president of the town's Jewish community said on Wednesday.

Police found no slogans but a swastika was drawn on the letter box of the house of the caretaker of the neighboring communal cemetery, who found the damage on Tuesday afternoon.

"There was a desecration in the Jewish cemetery of Sarreguemines, probably between Monday night and Tuesday morning," said Claude Bloch, the Jewish community leader.

Sixty-four headstones were smashed or turned over and a horizontal stone moved as if the perpetrators were trying to open the tomb beneath it.

3. As popular as it is in the U.S. . . .
why were Aryan nation jerks protesting in Boston over the weekend?
why do the synagogues in progressive San Francisco have guards?
why are temples in the Bay Area fire bombed?
why were the kids from the JCC in Los Angeles shot at with an automatic gun several years ago?

I live in France half the year. The other half in San Francisco. I'm Jewish and I prefer France. My neighbors protected Jews during World War II . . . I doubt if my American neigbors would be as selfless if put in the same position.

France has the third largest Jewish population in the world.

F.Y.I. For German occupied countries, France had the lowest percentage of its Jewish population murdered during World War II.

As Americans, we need to look in our own backyard and solve our problems instead of using France as a whipping boy. At least France set up a special police force to deal with anti-semitic incidents as soon as they started happening after 9/11.

5. Has been, even since before WWII
Many people in France including the high members of the Vichy French supported the genocides committed by Hitler, and even helped! It was hard for all of France to stay together and fight the nazis, because many French collaborated. Right-wingers seem to have a rich history of screwing everyone over.
