As of Sunday, May 8, 2005, at least 1,599 members of the U.S. military have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count. At least 1,216 died as a result of hostile action, according to the Defense Department. The figures include four military civilians.

The AP count is six higher than the Defense Department's tally, last updated at 11 a.m. EDT Friday.

1. From Mother's Day to Father's Day....I'm counting....
Here is one of my messages from this morning on another thread.

From Mother's Day to Father's Day - Where can I get the count of what it is today? 1599 or so?

I'd also like to know the count of:
limbs lost
organs lost
minds lost
immune systems lost
dreams interrupted

children not held
games not played
future income lost
time spent at VA facilities
life dreams lost

and we know there is a parallel list of by the Iraqis and they didn't even start out hating us.

How much more are we to accept?

Is this all coming to a number game?

Thanks for the number.

3. shhhhh, don't tell anyone, but it is 1602
http://www.icasualties.org/oif/

Actually it is much higher, but since they don't include those that died after being transported out of Iraq it is much lower than what it is

This will unfortunately go much higher. I would imagine it will take at least 5 to 7 years before the people realize the mistake that has been made

Remember Viet Nam, it took quite some time before people realized that the government was lying to them

8. Right. Better to look at the first years of Vietnam
Although now, instead of dying they get to live without eyes and ears and arms and legs. A mixed accomplishemnt.

9. I would support increased funding for
impeaching and trying lying politicians who send kids to their death by spreading lies. When all of them are breaking rocks in Leavenworth, the media whores who didn't challenge Bush's lies would be next.
