Nepal opposition parties unite in bid to restore democracy

The seven centrist and left-wing parties have warned of fresh street protests, demanding the king immediately restore democracy by reviving the dissolved parliament.

The parties held all but a few seats in the parliament before it was dissolved in 2002.

The move came shortly before U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Christina Rocca was due to visit Nepal. <snip>
