KUWAIT CITY (AP) - Women activists said Saturday they are fed up with unending debate on a bill to let them run in municipal elections and want full rights to run for office and vote in Parliamentary elections in two years. snip

Women can vote in all Middle Eastern nations where elections are held, except Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. The Persian Gulf nations of Bahrain, Qatar and Oman all have held their first elections in recent years and allowed women to cast ballots.

The activists have called on Kuwaiti women to strike on Monday to protest their lack of political rights, and are spreading the word by cell phone messages. snip

With only men over 21 who are not members of the police or the military allowed to vote, just over 139,000 are registered to cast ballots out of a Kuwaiti population of around 960,000. If the door for women is opened, the figure could reach 339,000.
