74 YO Man Gets 10-Year Prison Term for Illegally Selling Prescription Meds
74-Year-Old Man Gets 10-Year Prison Term for Illegally Selling Prescription Drugs

The Associated Press

May 7, 2005

TAZEWELL, Va. (AP) - A 74-year-old man who illegally sold prescription drugs was sentenced to 70 years in prison, but the judge suspended all except 10 years of the term.

Lloyd Edgar Williams Sr. pleaded guilty in January to distributing the powerful pain killer oxycodone and conspiracy to distribute.

Prosecutors said Williams, who sold the drugs out of a store he ran, also was convicted of distributing oxycodone in 1991 and served a prison term.

Williams' attorney argued the defendant was in poor health and any prison term would amount to a life sentence, but Judge Henry Vanover said Friday that Williams was old enough to know better.

2. What are the chances a Florida judge would give Rush Limbaugh
a ten year sentence for buying mass quantities of illegal drugs?

3. No chance at all! Rushbo will never be charged with buying drugs.
As long as he tows the party line, that is.

8. Well, that anal cyst is now between his shoulders.
I'd love to see him frog-marched into prison. It'd be a video worth keeping.

One of my good friends from High school got busted a few weeks ago for selling oxy's illegally.

His dad had a prescript pad near the phone at their house to take phone messages on.

So my friend would steal pages of the pad, write the prescript to himself and he forged the docs signature.

He would hand in the script, get the pills and sell them.

This is his first offense but still....the thought of my friend getting 10 years....:scared:

6. It's selling a Class A narcotic
The same as dealing heroin to the law. Probably the same thing, period. First offense in civilized states (i.e., blue states) usually means a suspended sentence or probation, but he better keep his mitts off drugs of any sort.

10. I wouldn't be surprised if the father was charged with negligence
for leaving the prescription pad around like that.

9. This drug war has got to stop.
Bush has never been elected, and yet he has killed 100,000 people in Iraq. Where is the prison time for him, I wonder? This case has been reported upon in the media because the defendant is 74. However, there are people in their 20s and 30s and 40s and 50s who get slammed like this every day in America for getting caught violating drug laws. This is insane.

11. And that isnt even getting to all the old folks buying pain meds on
the internet, becuase US drug prices are though the roof.

Next time in the news it will be some 80 year old great-grandmother going to prison for buying pain medications at www.xyz-pharmacy.com becuase she couldnt afford to buy it at the local US drug store.

And El Rushbo walks away a free man from ant charges.

Something is very wrong with that picture!!

15. You are correct. This is just the tip of the iceburg with the drug laws..
..lots of people doing hard time for being in possession of pot, but then most of them were not filthy rich either.

One law for them and another for the rest of us, poor working peons.

12. These days it seems like everyone who forges prescriptions
is caught. I have to wonder if the local police are getting lists from the pharmacies of people on narcotic medication.

13. While Cindy McCain went free....
Cindy McCain wife of John McCain of Arizona, forged prescription drugs, forms she stoled from doctors she claimed were working with her to rescue the children of Bangladesh. But, nothing happened to her. She was even elevated to the prominent position of future Fist Lady of the US.

This country has really gone to the dogs.

14. Not dogs, just the ultra-conservative rich, who pull the strings
on this sort of behavior as a means to keep the masses at bay.

When they get caught with thier hands in the cookie jar, somehow drugs are not such a bad thing after all.:eyes:

18. He already knew what serving prison time was like
Apperently he didn't think that it was such a bad thing or else he wouldn't have done this.
