No Senate Filibuster Changes, Say Americans
(Angus Reid Global Scan) – Many adults in the United States are against a proposal to alter existing regulations in the upper house, according to a poll by TNS released by the Washington Post and ABC News. 66 per cent of respondents are opposed to amending Senate rules to allow for an easier confirmation of presidential judicial nominees. <snip>

Would you support or oppose changing Senate rules to make it easier for the Republicans to confirm Bush’s judicial nominees?

Support 26%
Oppose 66%
No opinion 8%

The Senate has confirmed 35 federal appeals court judges nominated by Bush, while Senate Democrats have blocked 10 others. Do you think the Senate Democrats are right or wrong to block these nominations?

Right 48%
Wrong 36%
Right in some cases, wrong in others 3%
No opinion 13%

Methodology: Telephone interviews to 1,007 American adults, conducted from Apr. 21 to Apr. 24, 2005. Margin of error is 3 per cent.

Why should they? The sheeple just vote for that (R) no matter what they do. By the time the next election rolls around, the sheeple will be certain the Democrats changed the rules.

Hopefully, that will change within the next year and a half. We can only wait and see.

5. OMG, the public has really caught on!
Filibusters ... Senate rules ... judicial appointments ... these are not the stuff of overwhelming public opinion, particularly in the face of the PR battle the R's have mounted. It's astounding that this percentage of people is aware of what's going on, much less to be so seriously against it!
