Young Republicans chair confronted, Woman bounced from Bush event recalls
...Woman bounced from Bush event recalls Klinkerman

The chairman of the Colorado Young Republicans was one of the people involved in a March 21 incident in which three Denver residents were forcibly removed from a speech given by President Bush because of a bumper sticker.

Jay Bob Klinkerman, leader of the state group for Republicans ages 18 to 40, admitted in an interview that he was at the gate of the Wings over the Rockies Museum when the three people were stopped.
...
Two of the three who were removed, Bauer and Leslie Weise, said that Klinkerman is the event volunteer who was wearing a magenta shirt and smiley-face tie that night, and told them, "Secret Service is coming down to talk to your group."

Then a man who looked and acted like a Secret Service agent arrived and threatened them with arrest. He allowed them to enter but then found them 20 to 30 minutes later and forced them to leave.

12. I always though Zebediah Esabar was a cool sounding name
He's a suspected 9/11 co-conspirator (still on the run, as I understand).

And not for nothing, but Zacarias Moussaoui is also a cool sounding name.

7. As pointed out on DU a short while back,
Edited on Wed Apr-27-05 01:11 PM by pnorman
depriving a person of his rights "under the color of law", is NOT a 'harmless prank'. It's a serious offence, and the range of penalties match those for real criminal activities.

Let's hope that this "Klinkerman" snot gets the smirk wiped off his face --- FAST.

9. Is there a penalty posing as a Secret Service agent?
If there is a penalty who investigates? Who would they need speak to file a complaint?

If this happened to me you can bet I would have been on their website finding out who to complain to. These people are supposed to work for us, and as any government agency are and should be sensitive to complaints.

People need to stop acting like sheep and martyrs, having a Kerry sticker is not a crime. It takes time to move through a bureaucracy but it can be done with persistence.

13. Denver Post reporter answered some ??'s for me
The author of the Denver Post replied to my email and clarified that Klinkerman is known to have told the people that they needed to wait for the SS to show up.

He said the SS are trying to determine whether a crime was committed before they press charges.

It sounds to me like the SS knows exactly who did it

16. In the BBC documentary about "Nightmares" and governments ruling
using fear as a vision... they showed that in Algeria, the people who got to the top of the Islamist terrorist movement kept attacking people who would not agree with their fundamentalism 100%.

In the end, these terrorist decided that everybody in the country of Algeria should be killed and that only the 10 of them should be allowed to exist in Algeria.

Look for that trend in the USA.

Not that Americans are being killed. But that the fundie leadership will start to eat its own tail as it gets more and more delusional.

21. I bet the secret service has been waiting for this to unfold
they are professionals and their duty is to protect the president from harm not from his own innocent civilians...

they have seen the goings on and now have enough evidence to stop the Young Republicans...

The question is who orchestrated this? Who put the word out to all the Young Republicans to turn back demonstrators? I dont think this was spontaneous...Someone thought this idea up ....Karl Rove?

23. Why doesn't the SS know the guy's a fake SS-man?
Edited on Wed Apr-27-05 05:40 PM by dmr
Why wouldn't he or they stand out?

Aren't real SS-men trained to find people who stand out? And if they saw a fake SS-agent, wouldn't they be able to recognize him, and also know something is wrong when they try to contact him via his fake earpiece?

Funny, Bush* and gang ran their campaign on how much better they would protect America from terrorism, but they sure have enough security breeches at Presidential events with 'fake' SS-men; and then in the White House with fake journalists aka Gannon running amok 'forgetting' to sign-in or sign-out. Who or what else is being breech?

But we know the real answer lies with the fact that these instances are not breeches, but planned with the likes of Rove.

Either the White House and their Secret Service are either fuck-ups, or they are fucking the country.

We ought to fire them all. Let's start with Bush*.

Edit: grammar

25. I wondered the same thing, dmr
The Secret Service should be watching and noticing if the same face is showing up at many Bush appearances. They should certainly be noticing if the person is wearing an earpiece and trying to look like SS.

My theory is that Bushco is still using contract security and having them bounce citizens from events. The Secret Service knows it, but they are covering for Bushco.

26. Not enought SS agents for Bush's appearances...
They need extra contract help. Many SS agents are too busy bailing the twins' drunk friends out of the drunk tanks:

From March 5, 2001
The Secret Service - It would appear that the Secret Service have acquired yet another new role under George W. Bush. Along with protecting the president and busting down the doors of junior satirists (see Idiots Week 6), they are also required to pick up underage alcoholics from the local drunk tank. After the recent TCU booze-up, Jenna Bush's "boyfriend" William Ashe Bridges (Nash to his friends) was thrown in jail for public intoxication. Four hours later, Secret Service agents showed up in a black Chevy Suburban, bailed him out, and give him a ride home. Now this may seem an unusual way of spending the public's tax dollars, but think about it - bearing in mind this guy's connections, it's entirely possible that the Secret Service were just protecting our future president! Nash Bridges in 2032!

A group of college republicans at their Midwest caucus leadership conference heard about the rally and stormed in.

"We're sorry, access to http://www.woi-tv.com/Global/story.asp?S=1605772&nav=1LFWKGNJ has been blocked by the site owner via robots.txt."

from the Daily Kos

WOI's reporter sensationalized the physical aspects - it wasn't a full-fledged brawl, more like a verbal and visual confrontation with a dash of gratuitous violence from the Young Rethugs.

They did get a couple of other facts wrong - they called it a "Democratic" rally rather than a Howard Dean event, and campus security didn't break it up, it more or less petered out on its own after Jett and the Dean supporters defused the situation by rocking out to our national anthem

"This is nothing new. From the Brooks Brothers riot to the ... racist and misogynistic attacks on Margaret Cho, this kind of conservative bullying is becoming more and more common place."
