Rice Prods U.S. Senate on Bolton Nomination
Rice Prods U.S. Senate on Bolton Nomination
Mon Apr 25, 2005 05:57 PM ET

CRAWFORD, Texas (Reuters) - Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said on Monday the White House has been responsive to senators' concerns about John Bolton, the embattled nominee for U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, and prodded the Senate to move forward on his nomination.

"We understand the deliberative processes of the Senate. And we've tried to be as responsive as possible to all of the questions that have been asked," Rice said. "But I would really hope now that people will move forward on John Bolton's nomination."
(snip)

Republican Sens. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island, Chuck Hagel of Nebraska, and George Voinovich of Ohio all decided that the accusations against Bolton merited further examination.

If all eight Democrats on the committee vote against Bolton, as expected, just one Republican vote opposing him would be enough to block the nomination.

1. There are no bounds on the hubris of that bunch!
The extent of this is beyond unholy.
First of all, condi ought to be in jail right now awaiting execution for war crimes. As for bolton, he ought to be awaiting trial for war crimes.

12. They live by the Peter principle....
Only difference, usually when you want to fire someone you promote them beyond their ability until they screw up, then you fire them, however in bizarro moron* world, if you screw up, kill people, start wars for no reason, you get promoted beyond your ability but never get fired.

5. Lying like a rug, that's our Condi
Boxer had to write a letter to this incompetent idiot to ask her to rescind the memo she distributed at State, telling her department NOT to cooperate with the committee.

And, can someone tell me wtf she's doing in Crawford? Incompetent AND unprofessional.

13. Like if they just follow her 'reality' and give up? They have questions
She's drinking her own piss and hoping that if she admits no wrong the 4 will feel like their eyes are fooling them, they will feel anxiety, they will think they are going crazy and then flip their positions.

She's acting like a sociopath!!
