Puerto Rico honors war casualties

April 13, 2005

Puerto Rico Secretary of State Marisara Pont and other island government officials visited the "Faces of the Fallen" memorial at Arlington National Cemetery on April 7 to pay tribute to the 27 Puerto Rican soldiers who have died during the Afghanistan and Iraq wars.

The memorial is a temporary portrait exhibit of 1,300 military personnel who lost their lives while serving in the two conflicts.

The ceremony was organized by the Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration.

More than 15,000 Puerto Rican men and women have served or are soon to be deployed to the two countries.
