Johnson Truck Bodies workers strike (WI)

Johnson Truck Bodies may move out of Rice Lake if a union strike at the company isn’t settled, general manager Ron Ricci said Saturday. Ricci’s comments came at a news conference called by the company following a union walkout on Thursday. <snip>

were less than honest with the negotiating committee during negotiations,” said union representative David Reardon in a telephone interview Monday. <snip>

Reardon said that the employers have been harassing their employees and making threats intended to frighten them, including moving a senior employee to a lower position in retaliation for union activity. <snip>

Reardon said that Johnson Truck is offering no wage increases in the first year of the 3-year contract and 10-cent per hour wage increases in each of the remaining years. He said that the employer also wants to “dramatically reduce” employee health insurance benefits and increase deductibles and other out of pocket expenses. <snip>
