Dobson Applauds Oregon Marriage Ruling; Justices Uphold State Constitution
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., April 14 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Focus on the Family Action Chairman Dr. James C. Dobson issued the following statement today in response to the Oregon Supreme Court voiding the same-sex marriage licenses issued last year:

"We applaud this ruling that upholds the traditional definition of marriage, which was just affirmed by the people of Oregon last November when they approved a state marriage- protection amendment. Throughout human history, marriage between one man and one woman has served as the foundation of civilization - and today, the Oregon Supreme Court has confirmed the value of that institution.

"This ruling underscores the appropriate role of judges: to uphold and affirm the laws enacted by the people and their elected representatives, not to foist a radical social agenda on society. It is a welcome - and, sadly, rare - example of judicial restraint."

2. I seem to recall polygamy being the order of the day in biblical times
"Throughout human history, marriage between one man and one woman has served as the foundation of civilization"

Let's see, I'm pretty sure that polygamy was the foundation of civilization for thousands of years.

3. In some parts of Utah, it still is
And there's that thing where after this life, Mormon men each get their own planet and several wifes to start populating it with.

6. Anytime an article starts with 'Dobson applauds'
you know the subject is cruel, stupid, short-sighted, and unChristian.

7. For the official record, thinking Oregonians are still shocked
and ashamed that our populace managed to pass that disgusting amendment.

9. It's difficult to abide Dobson's brand of Christianity --
-- which appears to revel in the dissolution of others' happiness.
