Florida Sheriff's Detective Fired After Being Charged With Falsifying Police Reports

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - A sheriff's detective was fired after being charged with falsifying documents in police reports.

He is the third official charged in the state attorney's 17-month probe into allegations that Broward County sheriff's deputies closed cases by attributing them to people who could not have committed the crimes.

Joe Isabella, 34, was fired Thursday after he told investigators he had improperly cleared cases and falsified reports. He was charged with a misdemeanor count of falsifying documents and is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday.

He blamed pressure from supervisors who wanted to lower crime statistics.

Wonder how many of these people who could not have committed these crimes are on death row or have already been executed?

2. I wonder if all those innocent people he screwed
out of their families, lives, and jobs will get any of it back?

Pretty f*ckin' doubtful.

He should be hanged in the public square.

4. According to the article he is the third official to be arrested for this
If there are three, you can be sure there are more. And I thought this only went on in Chicago. This just reinforces my belief that there should be no death penalty. I wonder how many death warrants Chimpy signed for innocent men in Texas?

- snip -

Isabella's case is being handled differently because he admitted that he, and other detectives, blamed crimes on the wrong people under pressure from supervisors to improve the agency's crime statistics.

- snip -

Isabella is charged with falsifying records on an Oakland Park burglary, which was blamed on Elbert Haney, 48. While Haney was not criminally charged with the burglary, the investigation of a break-in at a hotel room was closed. The crime report indicates that Isabella and his sergeant, Sharon Wesolowski, signed off on a document that said Haney confessed to stealing a computer.

Haney is serving a 10-year prison term. He pleaded guilty to several Broward burglaries, thefts and dealing in stolen property.

If convicted, Isabella faces up to a year in jail, but he is not expected to serve any time because he has no prior record. He will either give up his state certification to be a law enforcement officer or would likely have it revoked.

6. supervisors who wanted to lower crime statistics.
Want lower crime statistics??

Stop fucking with the election process, get the criminals out of D.C., and stop promoting people who screw up, yes, that means in D.C. as well. Oh and make sure you screw with SS, Healthcare, and Overtime while you are at it. That should just about cover it.

7. If a cop falsifies a police record and the result is an innocent person
being punished - no matter **what** the punishment - this should be a felony with mandatory jail time. Cops are there to protect and serve, not to make fucking quotas to make some voting block or politician happy.

And if this action is condoned by - or willfully ignored by - superiors, then they should get the same punishment.

As to the punishment for such action? How about you get to serve the same time as the poor schlub you framed. And pay some restitution, since your income came from the public teat while you were screwing that same public.

9. Broward County, that paragon of democracy ...
So who told the supervisors to lower the crime statistics, I wonder? Could it be...a politician that wanted to stay in power?
